As a keeper growing up, shootouts were always my favorite. My mindset was, as a keeper, you have nowhere to go but up, and the penalty taker has no where to go but down. If you are taking the pen, you are SUPPOSED TO SCORE. If you miss you screwed up, BUT as a keeper, if they score on you…so what. They were supposed to score and its not your fault. BUT if you save the pen, you have saved the day and you did really well. So as a keeper I was never nervous because I knew no matter what its not my fault, and if I saved it I would be the hero. That confidence helps more than you can imagine
