A short video of a 1989 American Silver Eagle PCGS MS68. Here is a wonderfully toned 1989 Silver Eagle which has been graded MS68 by PCGS. American Silver Eagles are one ounce .999 fine silver and are known around the World. Colorfully toned Silver Eagles can be found as pure silver is quite susceptible to toning. However, finding an example with eye appealing color on both sides of the coin is somewhat more difficult. The example here has attractive purple and blue colors that surround the rims on both sides, but which are more concentrated on the obverse. The coin has extraordinary eye appeal and is an amazing example of the date.

Michael, a Fantastic American Silver Eagle! I love Rainbow Toned Coins! I bought a coin from Superior Galleries, (Numismatics Manager Ervin Lee), before they went out of business. It is a 1878 7TF Reverse of 1879. Ervin had it in the Coin Display in the store at around the same price as the bargain bin at $25 years ago. I told him I liked it, and when Ervin turned it over the Reverse was Fantastic. Ervin agreed to sell it to me at the $25 price it was marked at, and told me the details were good enough to be AU. I could tell he kept counting the TF's, LOL! Around 7 years ago I had it graded by PCGS, and the graded it a 1878 7TF AU55, Reverse of 1879, Beautiful also, yet not around a MS70 that this coin looks to be. I also later bought a 1881-S BU from him for a few dollars more, and it looks like MS with my 10X magnifying glass.

Too bad it’s not in its packaging or holder that made it tone like that. I wonder what it would have looked like if it kept toning for a couple more years
