Sunsun '60w' LED review.... the rise of sub $10.00 bulbs

Another sub $10.00 bulb. This one is interesting, however, as it has UL/FCC certifications and the build quality looks reasonably good. The LED bulb market is entering a new phase towards the mass-market.

Thanks my friend :) The reason I asked was the Cree uses an obvious fuse in their design. You learn something new everyday :)

Great review. I didn't notice any fuse protection on the board.

Nice review. The first thing I do when I when teardown a LED bulb to salvage parts is to check how many watts are actually going to the Led(s). Here is an example, I tore down a "3W' spot light which claimed that it had 3x1W led's inside. They bulb drew about 3.8W from the mains. But the led's where only getting about 1.6W. This is a very important factor when checking led bulbs.

Bought the 75 watt 3000K bulb on Amazon. Very nice indeed. The lack of flicker and the decent diecast heatsink is nice. The Cree will sell more but this is a nicer bulb .

Really neat dimmable bulb for that price. Great review.

Looks decent :)

I quite like those 'Chip on board' type LEDs. Nice to see one used in a retrofit lamp.

I had a very bad experience with sunsun. I bought a 6 pack of SunSun Lighting A19 40w Replacement LED light Bulbs, E26, 470 Lumen, Non-Dimmable, 240 Angle, 3000k, Soft White, UL Listed June 2015. The first bulb died in 5 months. Got it replaced. That replacement and the other 5 died in less than a year. They all died the same way. They would flicker as if trying to turn on, but wouldn't light up all the way. It was a very dim flicker. I had them in my ceiling fan. They were not fully enclosed. It's a 3 bulb fan with glass cone shaped enclosures with open tops. I went back to incandescent bulbs until I can figure out the issue.

did not expect such quality when I heard it was Chinese. I was pleasantly surprised. Why doesn't home depot stock these and have some competition with the cree. Wonder who would win

I still trust Cree's electronics quality and actual diode engineering and lifetime testing more. Would you say that the flicker severity on the Cree is more or less severe than on a typical CFL?

Have you been using SunSun bulbs since your review? Any failures?
