Veteran pro guitarists Richard Barrett and Neville Marten put Orange's new immense sounding single-channel, 70s style OR30 head through its paces along with both the lightweight vertical 212 and traditional 412 cabinets that accompany it. Despite being loudest 30-watter Orange have ever produced, Nev and Rich discover it is tonally flexible and tameable thanks to a raft of contemporary features and functions that let you unlock vintage tone with modern ease-of-use.

I’m struggling to pick this with the orange ppc212v
Or the super crush 100 with any cab I can pick
Or a lightly used rockerverb mk3
I’m looking for something that can do alternative rock really well but has a good enough clean channel where I can run pedals through it

I bought this amp because of the tone at 9 minutes ("I really like tones like that.") and because I was able to sample the amp at a local shop. It's absolutely perfect for the no frills, button and knob-averse guitar player like myself.

Can you get all these same sounds and tones from the Orange 30 amp Duel Terror?

I think the FIST symbol is supposed to mean "punch".

I first heard jim root played orange but actually i think now that it was rob chapman and i liked them instantly it has a defined crunch to it but keeps the sound of your guitar honest which i like thers a defined growl to the gain and i find its perfect for zepplin. Also jimmy bowskill plays an ad-30 with el-84s which both my mesa the lonestar special 1x12 and the mark v 35 currently has finally got some good new tubes in it as of 10:45 pm oct, 24th my parents 48th anniversary since they got married and they both are still together with me.But my amp sounds so much better now i was honestly worried and i worry alot lately about life mostly the future and money but all i want as a guitarist like most of us is a good amp and my les paul to be in tune and im glad i got both now so lesson learned about tube amps is there amps but they use tubes hence tube amp so if your amp is making bad farting and crackling noises just change your tubes!!! CHEERS Jeff!!!!

While I Do love Orange amps, I don’t find that they manage to accurately recreate their original 70s sounds. The tone sounds more like the typical 80s tight high gain tones. The old ones had cleaner cleans, and were looser and more raw when pushed.

In the last few days I'm going nuts, trying to figure which English made Orange amp might be the best for dooming with my 9-string. The Rockerverb has a wonderful clean channel, but the drive channel seems to be too well-mannered for my taste, not enough mids. The AD30HTC was a lot of fun when I tried it at a store, but it has this unsteady compression going on when notes ring out, sounds a tad cheap in some situations. This OR30 seems to be just the compromise of all worlds I needed. Class A design with tube sag, all of the mids with a nice focus on low mids, and the ability to go from trebly punk all the way to mellow doomy sounds with a nice low end to things. The improvement over the AD30HTC I didn't find until I learned about the OR30. It's pricey, yes, but I can also hear why it's pricey, it just is built that good. I guess matching it with Delta Pro 12A speakers in a big Zeck 2x12 cab will be a good idea?

Thanks Guys, great amps but talk less and play more. Also, it has always bothered me that the maker of Orange does Not use WORDS on the amp to explain the function of each nob....You know Volume, Gain....STUPID.... While I am rambling these amps a so very heavy and in my 60's I have to sacrifice sound most times to have an easily transportable amp.pid

All tube amps today are so far overpriced it’s sickening! The same sounds now are available in many modelers and the cost is whatever you feel like spending in a wide range of options … so what’s the f- ing point of buying amps anymore … these manufacturers are pricing themselves into extinction
