Fixing the fan speed switch on a 2010 Kia Forte, but applies to many other Kia / Hyundai vehicles with similar climate control modules

Thank you for the great tips. My issue was with a 2013 Kia Soul. So I watch a video on getting to the climate control module for that model, then took the fan switch out as carefully as you suggested. I had no damage just very dirty contacts so I wiped them down and lightly sanded them with P320 grit (don’t forget the contacts on the other piece of that switch). Put it all back together and it works perfectly now. It been a growing problem for 3 years now and the whole process took less than 30 minutes. Thank you so much!👍😁

Fixed mine, and aparently many people in the comments have the same problem. If the AC button and/or defroster is only turning on when hot, replace the two silver capacitors in the midle. Both of them will have three identification lines, which the first one doesnt really matter on neither one. The ones who matter are the second and the third ones. Which in this case are the only ones you need to understand what means to find a replacement capacitor. The second and third lines are: 22 and 16v, which means 22 micro faraday and 16 volts. Same for the second capacitor: 47 and 16v, which means 47 micro faraday and 16 volts. You have to shop for a 22 micro faraday 16 volts capacitor, and a 47 micro faraday 16 volts capacitor. You can find them in any of three types: electrolitic, aluminum, or hybrid (a mix of the first two). If you live in a tropical area like me, you can use any of them. BUT, if where you live gets below 0 degrees, DO NOT buy the electrolitic ones, as the electrolite inside of them will froze and the capacitor WILL NOT WORK, and you will not be able to turn on the heater till summer.

I have a 2010 Kia Forte, my a/c and defroster don’t work in the morning. Air comes out but no lights on the a/c panel and no hot or cold air. Later in the day everything works, any ideas?

Hi GageFixesEverything, I have the same Kia Forte/Cerato and I have a weird issue with this same AC switch panel. When I 1st start the car in morning, the panel is not working. No lights come on the panel for AC, air circulation or heater. But blower and the mirror heating is working. (no lights on the panel though) but AC not at all. But after driving about 10-15 mins, lights come on and everything seems to work as expected. I noticed this is only happens if I park the car for longer period of time, like the night. short distance trips, it's working.

Man I had no Idea that my problem might be this! I’m definitely sure this what I’m facing since the harness of the this keeps getting extremely hot!!! So definitely might be facing this on my kia sorento 2017!

Hi mate, kind of the opposite problem with mine! Very similar temperature control panel, ONLY the speed dial works on mine, and it works fine. But the direction, and the temperature gauge don't work at all! It's stuck on hot, and I can't change the direction. Any ideas at all? I find it hard to believe the coincidentally both actuators have gone, so surely it's the panel? Thanks!!

My 2008 kia sorento ac light stays on i pushes it in but it will not send a signal to turn on the air compressor on i change the ac pressure switch it still will come unless i jump the compressor could it be in the panel

Please is there a way I can contact you privately? I have a kia sorento 2017 and having a huge issue with the AC electrical system! The car was about to burn down!!! I had the blower relay in the engine compartment with a 40A fuse dead and the blower relay was is connected somehow to the blower and the compressor clutch and at spreed 1 and 2 it seems to be okay but at 3 and 4 is making the added wire from the control to I don’t know where getting extremely hot and the really is also getting extremely hot! So I would like to send you some videos so you can help me figure out how to fix it 🙏

Yes..this case same my car no light at ac button at the morning after drive few minute AC light is coming or after a day is normal..after engine off no AC light again..kia forte
