Zoe Saldana should be playing eartha kitt not Nina Simone

I don't care if I get the angry black woman stereotype - this made me upset. I'm mad at Zoe Saldana & Hollywood. Last I checked dark skinned Black women are not extinct. They could've found a black actress Nina's skin tone to portray her accurately. Zoe is light skinned with wavy hair - they rather paint a light skin black woman dark brown and buy a kinky wig, than take the time to find an actress who can play the part and has these features naturally. I think Zoe is a good actress but, I would've been so proud if she had declined this role and said - Nina Simone was a proud unapologetic dark skin black woman - find someone to accurately portray everything she was internally & exteriorly. All shades of melanin are beautiful but, Hollywood only wants to acknowledge light skin black women! Now if the character was fictional - who cares. But if the character is nonfictional and as dark as the night time sky, you better cast someone as dark as the night time sky to portray her.

Using Zoe and literally painting her dark is such a slap in the face to Nina, a DARK SKINNED WOMAN who had to live with being dark in America ! What we are witnessing is the erasure of blackness ! This is deeper than this film. We don't even own our own accomplishments !!!

BOYCOTT this movie this is an insult to Nina Simone legacy. She embraced being natural, dark skin an Afro centric. She was aware that there was an under representation of dark skin black women in the media she advocated to embrace dark skin Black beauty. This is such an insult to see a light skin mix Latina woman put on a black face and wear a fake prosthetic nose why make her out to look like a clown. I want be going to see this.
