The current engines are actually more or less correctly scaled with the actual ship (maybe just slightly too large, but that’s just a limitation of the medium) it just looks weird because the engines on most previous LEGO X-Wings were way too small. This one’s engines are the closest to correct we’ve ever gotten in LEGO. Also you had a good point about the wings, they might be a bit too short which makes it look a little weird. Plus R2 is tiny which also makes the engines look bigger than they actually are.

I really think this set should have had some landing gear, it would have been pretty straightforward to implement on a ship this size

after watching this i am blown away with how good it looks, i’m a huge fan of these “cheaper” ucs sets i missed out on that a-wing and i wont miss out on this one

I absolutely love this design. I know it's controversial but I think it's by far the best LEGO X Wing we've gotten to date.

As someone who was a broke child in 2013 I'm happy they've rereleased this. I've wanted to get my hands on this set for a while but the resale price was dumb.

I was sceptical at first, but seeing it displayed on video shows the angles much better than pictures. Definitely want it now.

I stand by 75218 the 2018 play scale x wing being the best and most accurate looking x wing in my eyes. its also got the benefit of being playscale so r2 and luke dont look to small when inside it.

I was truly on the fence on this one however after watching this in depth review, despite a few minor shortfalls with the set, feel it's worth it. Thank you for being objective and professional on your reviews!

I think it's "S-Foils" not "X-Foils" - at least based on the film dialogue. S stands for "Strike" apparently. Anyhoo, this is a nice model, I'll probably pick it up once it's on at least 20% off, and after the UCS Venator.

A sticker sheet in a UCS set is pretty brutal.

2:07 I don't get why Lego has made so many custom pieces that still require stickers. For my 2013 X Wing, I personally opted to not put the stickers on the windshield. I also did this when I got my UCS A Wing.

Having spent over 2 months recreating a 3D model of an X-wing from photos of filming models, I really appreciate the detail that went into this set. People who say the proportions are off should go see the movie 😜

The thing that I love about lego. Is that if you had a massive bin of Legos, you could build this without buying the set. Yeah probably alot of it won't have the right colors. But that could be cool too. Maybe you could call it a " Jaku x wing scrap fighter " and pretend that it was put together of different crashes x Wings from different squadrons. The only thing you'd have a hard time finding would be the windshield piece. Idk where you would find a windshield piece like that unless you just got that piece from lego. But that's what I used to do as a kid. I had a huge bin of Legos and some that used to be star wars sets. So I had some of the cockpit pieces laying around and I ended up finding the old instructions and started building the ships. Found most of the right colors because of how many Legos I actually had but some of them were made of lots of different colors and although it wasn't cannon or seen in star wars like that. I was still playing eith a star wars ship that I wasn't playing with before I built it. Legos are amazing

I was really on the fence with this set, not really sure if I wanted to jump at the chance to order one right when they come out, but honestly your review really sealed the deal for me! Super excited for this and the MIDI Executor to release!

I think that is WAY better than the previous UCS, that old one looks really blocky and dated. Shame it´s missing the landing gear, but still that is by far the best looking X-Wing what Lego has done. And looking the bottom of the set you can easily add landing gear if you like so.

The lack of landing gear at this size is simply ridiculous.

I just cant unsee how goofy R2 looks smushed between those MASSIVE engine pieces

X-foils...

I don't have either of the previous two UCS X-wings, so I'll definitely be picking this one up. Now, if only they'd release a new UCS B-wing...

The A-wing and the X-wing look so good together. Idk if they will ever remake a UCS A-wing, but now I really want it seeing it next to the X-wing…

I do think the one thing that people forget is that you're not building a traditional model set. its LEGO, if you don't like the wing length or the lack of landing gear then modify them on your own! I will personally be redesigning the wings on my X-wing to be a few studs longer, and I might add landing gear but i'm not sure yet. Don't let the build get in the way of you making it the way YOU wanna make it, you can always change it back anyway.
