At a restaurant whenever they tell me to scan the QR code on the table I simply ask for physical Menus

Yes, check the URL address. That is key! If it looks like something random, or you're expecting the URL address to have a specific address but it doesn't fit what you'd expect, leave the site.

If I paid through scanning a QR code at a restaurant, and that QR code was a scam, I would hold the restaurant responsible... It's like if you find a camera hidden in the bathroom. Your responsibility as a business is to protect your clients, so when they are injured in your establishment, it's on you as a business owner. And anyone who enters a credit card on a website without checking the URL is asking to be scammed. The problem again isn't the technology, it's the ignorance of the user. I use QR codes all the time and I never get scammed. The people who fall for these scams are the same people who fall for every other scam out there.

I never use QR codes...Whenever businesses ask me to scan, I tell them my phone is dead..

Omg, what people won’t do these days .
I reside in an assisted living facility, I do all of my shopping online especially since the pandemic, it’s easier for me and quicker.
Just three days ago I received some designer shower hooks I purchased on eBay it came with that code and it said to scan it and I may win some money, so far nothing seems amiss with my checking account, but now I will be extra careful I don’t usually take the time to look at this sort of thing but I sure will now .thank you gma.

That’s why I’m all paper when it comes to pertinent documents and tickets—all this digital scannable app and code shit is just a nightmare sometimes…but that’s just me! 🤷🏼‍♂️

What about rubbing your finger over the QR code, if they're sticking a sticker over the original QR code (which is often printed on the paper itself) there should be a layer and texture difference.

I don't even know how to scan a qr code on my phone. This stuff was big like 10 years ago. I didn't realize people still did this.
