Awesome video, thanks a lot. Getting started with woodworking myself and so happy to see two of my three beginner project ideas reflected here: a box, a cutting board, and my personal 3rd idea, a nameplate with some engraving. Hope to see more of your videos in the future!

Good ideas. I have no experience in this area, but I’d like my children to grow up capable of doing at least the basics and possibly more, if they’re interested. I told them that perhaps we can make a woodwork project this summer, which is what led me here. I’m off to look at your channel in hopes you have instructional videos for one of the ideas you mentioned . Thx

Interesting list. Ironic for me because when I started, my first project was a coffin-shaped bookcase for my youngest daughter. It was challenging but it came out great and she loves it. My second project was a farmhouse-style end table for my oldest daughter. It was an Anna White design so it was much simpler than the bookcase. I have since dialed back on the level of projects. I'm more into making smaller items but I have not shied away from next level joinery methods. I love to make things without the use of mechanical fasteners so I've done a lot of doweling, rabbets and half-laps. Very satisfying for me.

New subscriber here. I'll be checking out more of your videos in the near future.

What a great video.
I appreciate that you are giving the viewer something to think about, ... or almost a way TO think about the way that we approach projects altogether.
Making the same basic object, but steadily updating and improving the design as we learn new techniques and gain new tools, is something that I have actually been doing all along, now that I think about it. But I never really thought about it.
Looking at a project that may otherwise seem "boring" as a stepping stone to something bigger and better, is a great motivator, thank you for this perspective.
