For Real Analysis, you might take a look at Terence Tao's "Analysis". It begins a little less in the deep-end with a fun approach to proving basic arithmetic and algebra, showing how subtle mistakes can lead to things like "1 + 1 = 0", and building the muscles for rigor in areas the student already has some intuition about, before heading off into the more sophisticated aspects of analysis. The author claims his students enjoyed the approach, and that they came out of the course more prepared than in traditional courses. (He explains all of this in the preface, so if this approach sounds appealing, I recommend looking at the book preview to learn more.)

I’m about halfway through my master’s right now. I would say that it’s great to do some preparation beforehand but also to take some time to rest. If you’re like me and had been working almost nonstop since your first year of university (or even highschool), then it might be a good time to take a break. I don’t mean just watching youtube or TV or something like that, but actually let your mind rest and go for some walks or something. I didn’t do this and I’m paying the price for it now as I’m quite burnt out.

It’s good to prepare beforehand but it means nothing if you’re not going to have the energy to follow through during your degree properly. Rest is important

I love that Bond and Keane book. It's the only textbook I ever read cover to cover as an undergrad. Nobody I talk to has ever heard of it so I'm glad you mentioned it.

Exact same approach i used! And i crushed it. It's a remarkably good strategy IMHO. Writing proofs to this day are my weakness.

I'm just trying to prepare for BS in education with specialization in math by taking online non degree classes. I'm also hoping the online non degree classes will cancel out what a horrible student I was and help me be accepted by the university. I actually think its a great idea to take non degree classes before actually applying to the college. Its going to allow me to get an idea how well I might do in the BS education program and it will allow me to decide if I really want to try for a BS in education.

If a student needs motivation in the area, try My Life as a Quant by Emanuel Derman, or a cautionary tale in A Demon of or Own Design by Richard Bookstaber. There is no math in these books but there is great story telling about the working environment of applied quantitative finance, and what it takes to get there.

If you love math, go for it. I would suggest you a plan B. Masters in Econ or Finance.

MATH isn't my best merit but I'm capable of learning. I've conquered the correlation already

Why thesis? There’s usually several options. Usually passing a couple of the Ph.D. qualifiers is an option, if you do well in the classes that’s what I suggest. A thesis is a lot of work. Usually your defense is also a comprehensive oral exam. Also you need to get up to speed on doing proofs, proofs, and more proofs. Good luck!

Could you make one for comparison between Master in Mathematics and Master in Statistics (or Master in Mathematical Statistics)
Please

I suggest besides getting the required books in advance, she try to do as many problems as possilbe in the exercises. If you can't solve/prove it after several hours, move on. If you can then GREAT! But nothing gives you more "math maturity" than doing the problems. If you can afford it, buy other books similar to the ones required and do the same.

I'm in my 1st year of Bachelors (computer engineering), I want to do Masters in Mathematics. I'm not getting what exactly I should do in maths. OR I should do Masters in computers with maths as my electives. I eventually want to do a PhD in maths, because of some forces I'd to start with engineering.

Can you make a video on how to study when your enrolled in a abstract algebra 1 course? I failed it the first time I took it in the spring 2024 semester. Planning on retaking it but feeling blue from the first time because I worked super hard in the class
