Giselle pre-production test

This is the original test that I animated before we started production on Enchanted. It was done to test out the character and production design as well as our production pipeline. The sound comes from one of Amy Adam's audition tapes which is why it sounds like it was recorded in a hotel room (which I believe it was!). Enjoy.

For a two-dimentional character in a fantasy world, her movements seemed more realistic than the live-action Giselle, if that makes any sense.

Why is no one talking about the way the fabric is moving? Looks stunning! Rarely seen that in 2D animation. Everything on this clip makes me swoon. This is the animation that lives forever.

the fact this did not make it into the movie is criminal! so much hard work. the flowing fabric, hair, fluidity of it all is like an art nouveau poster came to life

Jesus Christ this animation is so good.
The animation may only be just 10 seconds, but look at her hair, clothes, face, etc.
Not only that but every frame is always so consistent with the character sheet/model

This feels like Art Nouveau in motion. I've never seen so much flowing movement in an animation, not even in the Firebird sequence of Fantasia 2000
