Solids, liquids, and gases are only the beginning. What are the other states of matter? Hint: There are more than you think.

Read More:

Matter: Definition & the Five States of Matter
“There are five known phases, or states, of matter: solids, liquids, gases, plasma and Bose-Einstein condensates. The main difference in the structures of each state is in the densities of the particles.”

Water May Exist as Two Very Different Liquids Simultaneously
“Scientists have long pondered the strange qualities of water, and researchers in Sweden have just found that at room temperature it might at once exist as two distinct liquids with differing densities and molecular structures.”

Work on Exotic Matter Wins Physics Nobel
“This year's laureates opened the door on an unknown world where matter can assume strange states. They have used advanced mathematical methods to study unusual phases, or states, of matter, such as superconductors, superfluids or thin magnetic films.”

Make seeker plus video on Star life:
1) Birth
2) nuclear fusion- quantum mechanical fusion, p-p chain, CNO
3) Radiaton- ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA, etc.
4) Changes ( in size, e.g., star that are the size of our sun gets bigger then smaller again then biggest and then smallest, mass, content, e.g., iron accumulation in core etc.) during lifetime.
5) Death- White dwarf, neutron star, Supernova, Black hole.
6) Leftover matter AKA stardust of different sized stars.

I told my 6th grade teacher that the sun was plasma but she said I was wrong
Nice to know I was right

If a Bose-Einstein condensate can slow light enough to stop it all together. Could you therefore create a BSE and put enough light into it to create a microscopic black hole?
I'm talking about making a kugelblitz where you cheat and seed it with a BSE.

What happens if you collide a condensate with plasma? is there a massive energy transfer, explosion or what?

Love the channel but isn't solid hydrogen different from metallic hydrogen? I understood that solid is created more by temperature and metallic by pressure.

This is such a great and interesting series! Trace's enthusiasm makes it even better. :)

I really don't understand why Na is sodium. In my language Na is Natrium

At 8:13, the speed of sound increases with the rise in Temperature, it's directly proportional, I guess you said the opposite

Anyways, an amazing video
Love ur channel And I love the pretty little jokes that u make between some really serious topics .

We can make a Bose Einstein condensate but cannot make a high-five emoji 😂😂😂😂😂

If a plasma is protons and electrons, when they are separated when heated from a gas, do they remember what they were paired with, or does it pair randomly when it cools and turn into something different that what it was before

I remember one time I was at summer camp and when I said that the sun is made of plasma, she said that made no sense cause plasma is the stuff in your blood. She was a fully adult woman.

I have to say that... I have to open subtitle cause I can't concentrate when Trace is talking XD. Without those subtitles, I will just daydreaming and empty my mind for some reason XD. Eventhough it's auto generated english, the subtitle still perfect with Trace's pronunciation, it just only have small typo error...

Why don't we teach about all states of matter in schools?

Hold up, from last episode you said photons have no mass, if so how come they are affected by gravity like a Black hole. If they have no mass how are they moved by a force? Or are they not affected by gravity and im stupid.

I think this guy does a really great job conveying the key components of complex subject matter into easy-to-understand phrasing... sometimes breaking down information even further, equipping the largest audience possible the ability to successfully comprehend and retain details that otherwise wouldn't have been understood as quickly.
I personally have a serious lack of capabilities for verbal explanations, regardless of my familiarity or experience learning whatever such material. But strangely enough, I enjoy being engaged in conversation topics that challenge my ability to share my knowledge accurately, while elaborating with clarity and sensibility. It feels to me like I can grasp any level of intellect, as if I could learn a limitless degree of difficulty.. But the second I try explaining a basic idea or teaching a simple concept, it's like the location in my brain where the information is stored disconnects, in order to focus and process how to deliver the information ..but at that very moment, the information storage is blank. Luckily, I don't have any noticeable issues while I'm writing/typing. But yeah.. I wish we could have seen a pic of that metallic gas or whatever he was telling us about!
