Did the HTC 10 cause HTC's fall?

Today I look back at the HTC 10 in 2020! I will later create a video detailing how useful the phone is in 2020 and if you should buy it or not.

I would've never pegged the HTC 10 to be called a badly built phone. I have never owned it myself, not because I thought it was bad, but I just couldn't get my hands on it.
I have seen phonbuff's video testing it's strength compared to the Galaxy s6, and it was way better, and I also believe that HTC were first to the race of making fluid displays by reducing screen latency on the HTC 10, it was only second to iPhones at the time. The HTC 10 was also one of the first phone to introduce dual speaker setups with a woofer and a twitter and it killed sound quality.
Now I get that there batteries were globally criticised but I believe L.G had the same issue at the time with their G5 and Samsung with their first gen fast charging on the S6.
The way I see it HTC lost their ranking among smartphone giants because of poor advertising, not because of failing to make a flagship in the HTC 10.

I feel like HTC peaked with the One M8. Everything after that was part of the slow decline.

I had the HTC 10 and it's probably the device that I've enjoyed the most. It had pretty good screen, incredible audio and an espectacular build quality. Now I have the HTC U12 plus and I'm really in love of what HTC can do with it's flagships

I think the U Ultra was the source of the downfall of HTC since I couldn't think of anything that I like about it.
On the other hand, the HTC 10, while not perfect, evoked such a positive feeling when I used it. I think it was one of the better devices in 2016.

The m9 is the one that almost killed HTC.

HTC 10 was fairly solid on paper but it alienated the longtime fanbase by removing the front-facing speakers. I actually don't mind this configuration (I went from FF speakers to the Note 9 with a bottom firing speaker, but still has a fairly even stereo image) but they could have more clearly marketed that it was still stereo, and could have made the downward speaker more balanced. They did improve their camera as well but it was too little too late, I remember seeing all the Samsung fanboys with S7 is still better!"

Im pretty it starts with the M9. It was the phone that ruined their reputations because it overheat quite easily, subpar camera and brings pretty much nothing that set itself apart from other flagship (except for the front speaker which I REALLY LOVE btw) then later that year they announced HTC One A9 that lead us thinking that they will learn from their past mistakes which is the M9 but guess what? Its a midrange phone with a SD617, very small 2150 mAh battery, weaker camera setup and on top of that the phone cost around 600 dollars which is insane and to no one surprises, the A9 got discontinued pretty quickly.

Watching this on my htc m8 in 2021. Replaced the battery and it has a decent battery and suprisingly still a snappy phone. Just wanted to know how older phones felt after using the s10& ip8 and my god how smooth it feels compared to newer phones.

I don't understand how the build quality was questionable. It was well received by many tech YouTubers, and particularly they praised its build quality. Solid, good buttons, chunky but good on the hand, and the chamfered edge was applauded.

How was it questionable?

Their weird direction with the camera tech, throwing away their beautiful m series design, throw away signature front stereo speaker, bad build quality brought down HTC

Although a great little powerhouse handset with a killer DAC, the HTC 10 was wedged in between two failures... The One M9 and the Ultra - neither if which did much for overall sales of the 10... The unit also had a poor battery life that would result in bootlooping when the phone was at 50% after about a two year life... I'm not sure what caused that...

I bought 2 of these phones and both has issues, which was the screen blackening out after a month or so... That was the last HTC i bought prior I had the Google G1, the Nexus one, the HTC amazed, the HTC M1, M8, M9, a9 and M10.

i still use a htc 10 its a sturdy phone but the battery life is trash i put the phone true hell i do a lot of adventure riding and enduro always falling etc i use it when im working my pockets are usually full of nuts and bolts and drill pits and other shit it falls out of my pocket all the time usually slapping of the concrete floor there is no paint left on the phone it's just full of dents scratches but the screen has never broken and literary has not one scratch on it
