usually when people comparing GNOME to Plasma, or the opposite, they focus to the main differences, advantages and disadvantages of each desktop, but in reality we are talking about two fully feature-complete desktops (or at least identical features complete), so what really eventually matters is the small differences ..that none is bother to explain, and you can't even explain because they are so so many!

ps ..that video was screaming for a better ending, but as you can see from the time, i actually made it last night at 5.30 in the morning, so i was dead ..i just uploaded today :)

As a Gnome user I feel shame that I didn't notice.

I use Plasma right now but I never really used that menu in Dolphin before. I got curious by your video and I tried it. It even worse than you think! I have a dual monitor setup and when I have Dolphin on my right monitor (which is the primary for me) that menu opens on the opposite side on my left monitor (which is secondary)!!! As a matter of fact: no matter which monitor Dolphin is on, is it full screen or not; that menu always opens on the right side of my left monitor which makes no freakin sense! (I hope I described it well, it would be easier to show on a screenshot or something)

At the same time, I as a long time Plasma user find a lot of annoyances when I try to use Gnome, not saying one is better than other, but the thing is, once you get used to use your desktop in a certain way, it's really hard to move on to something really different like Gnome (yeah, I know u can customize it with extensions but then what's the point anyway)

Not even a gnome user but I noticed the issue right away

I'm a simple Plasma user: I open the application menu and I don't see the issue.

As a user who uses both, I did notice and I've always noticed. But the state of the Linux desktop is such. The two major offerings are like so:
1. A ton of minor annoyances with no major annoyances. And the minor annoyances are slowly being ironed out as time passes.
2. A ton of major annoyances with no minor annoyances. And the major annoyances keep increasing while little things that matter but not as much keep getting fixed.

And I know I'm weird for liking both.

Meanwhile Lollypop confused me yesterday by opening the album context menu popover underneath the album instead of next to the cursor where I was expecting it

Not something plasma user's will notice as we're all getting our exciting desktop effects to look awesome and scare gnome users with our power.

How else would I appreciate that blur effect? No way it should open inside. Pick something else. Btw I guessed what you would get at when you showed dolphin menu

🤣, I keep that menu at the center of the toolbar to avoid this .

It's because KDE focus on usability, menu popup intentionally on right side (which is empty space) not to block view of dolphin. if dolphin in full screen, it will popup inside. I understand its difficult for gnome user to digest it. for gnome file app take 2 clicks to just open a new tab, this is just a example. gnome keep everything hidden to keep simple aesthetic, which dramatically reduce usability of average user. Average users are mouse driven, advance user/devs are keyboard driven. gnome focus on keyboard driven users. I can give so many examples which require multiple click in gnome where KDE does it in one click.

It is probably because it is useful not to hide content with your menu opened when it is possible...
DAMN! (me said as a GNOME and KDE Plasma user) :D :D :D this is not serious :D :D :D
