For your CN IX / X / XI foramina mnemonic, I have found that I like "If you cut your JUGULAR, you're going to need 9-11"... Jugular Foramen being CNs 9 thru 11. But whatever works!

Trochlear nerve has the longest intracranial nerve length because as the name suggests (trochlea = pulley), it originates from the dorsal part of the midbrain and then takes a recourse anteriorly as if it is put on a pulley(trochlea). It is also the only cranial nerve that originates from the dorsal part of brainstem.

PONS has 4 letters = 4 "middle" nerves have its nuclei in the Pons (5, 6, 7 and 8)

The way I remember jugular foramen for 9, 10, and 11 is that when you put them together ( IX X XI ) it looks like the label of a cartoon jug of alcohol. Alcohol "Jug" for jugular foramen.

The way I remember V2 (maxillary) goes through Rotundum is that the Rotunda (round building with dome) has a max capacity of people and V3 (mandibular) goes through Ovale so you make an O (oval) with your mouth or your mandible.

I was actually procrastinating and finding ways to cram the table in my neuroanatomy book. This came in handy. Massive thank you!

MNEUMONIC I would like to contribute--
3-4 - Mid-Brain (break it up as you say it)
5, 6, 7, 8 - try to keep your PONS straight (8 and straight rhymes)
everything else is medulla

I would like to add, that if you already know the "rule of 4's" and remember what 4 CN are motor (this only applies to the CN that come from the brainstem (3-12): Multiples of 12 are all midline: 3, 4, 6, 12. You might be able to just answer a question if they give you a diagram based on just the rule of 4's

For cranial nerve 1(olfactory) and 2 (optic ), they originate from nose and eye, not cerebrum. Their destination are cerebrum, because they are pure sensory nerves. Thanks
