I will tell you first hand how jacked up this is. Here in Washington Summer Con (which is very small in comparison), Kevin Eastman Elsa’s here doing a signing. My son had VIP tickets to get his pop signed, guess what did t happen. There were people there with 50+ items getting signed. There was a 4-5 hour wait for a 2 hour block for signatures. This was all vendors at the show and flippers trying to get paid. The max should be 2, nothing more. When it comes to vendors and others working at the show, there needs to be a time set up after the show. AFTER THE SHOW…. This killed our experience for a con, we both dropped $400 on tickets alone. We won’t be doing that again… These people are killing their own industry/business…common sense isn’t too common.

Poor Peach to have to see what disgusting behaviour people have inside them when she was there for her fans.. And all they did was take advantage of her generous nature.. Pure disgusted in those who took advantage of her..

I guess there's a good reason to charge for an autograph, not just to help out the artist but also to limit greed on the part of those who want an autograph.

Chris, you may not want to single out influencers / resellers / retailers, but I will. These people are looking for clout and money, full stop. From the description of events, their greed and entitlement absolutely ruined the experience for a lot of fans, and completely deprived many others of getting to meet Peach Momoko at all. It is absolutely disgusting that this was allowed to happen, and I pray that Reed Pop and other show organizers put a hard stop to bad actors.

Honestly it should have been just one auto per person for a free signing. First one free, you want more? Pay, problem solved. Whenever something is "free" people will take advantage. At my work the new boss started keeping the fridge stocked with waters but of course people started taking more than one at a time and taking several home.. so he stopped doing it. Just because some people can't be normal.

Technology can be used real simple here:
1. limit to paid attendees only-badges are straightforward on this
2. scan badges to limit to one turn
A 2-3 signature limit is handled at the desk. Dealers can be handled off hours however they like.
Separate signing session for paid items can be done separately/via reservation windows, etc.
You're welcome.

You hit the nail on the head - 3 signatures max at best, considering Peach was signing for free for the fans. 10 was way too much and allowing people to get back in line only made it worse.

That's disrespectful. Next time she should be in a private room and have security at the door. Kids free but adults have to pay. No more than 2 things signed. Sad that's comics is more about the money than the actually love of reading.

Let's face it, What Not and other vendors ruined the signing event for all of the non-vendor fans. I am predicting that this will unfortunately not be the last time this will happen. I sincerely hope that I am wrong, but greed has a way of changing people. I give kudos to Peach Momoko for leaving because of these vendors, influencers, and What Not reps.

I remember when this hobby used to have geeks and nerds (a badge we wore proudly) and now it has come a long way and it’s basically overrun by hustlers and flippers who are constantly trying to box each other out (and now literally) 😢 to upsell and pump and dump…and watever…

There’s no room left for the rest of us…

I was in that line and got lucky enough to meet her Friday in artist alley after she had to cancel her heavy metal x whatnot booth signing. She is hella nice, kind and respectful. People definitely were taking advantage of her kindness. I saw the first 4 people taking their time with her, asking her hella questions and distracting her from remarquing and signing that it took an hour for the first 4 to clear away. I also saw plenty of exhibitors, vendors and witnesses in front and behind me save spots in line for their 'witness' friends who then brought their own 10 books for signature. I feel they should restrict signings, or only allow vendors and exhibitors into the line after a certain time frame to give fans priority, and no more of this 'witnesses' bs where the witness also brings comics for signature.

I was there she was amazing, a big problem is that the vendors always start lining up before 10am. This is used to be a big issue during the wristband days at the dc booth, I remember being one of the first in queue hall for Geoff johns and grant morrison and when I got to the dc booth there was a bunch of people in line already

We were there and saw it first hand. Her team had the NYCC staff member handling her line say there were no more people allowed in line and to call security if anyone got rowdy. She wanted to give back to her fans but unfortunately the Vendors ruined it for everyone.

Thanks for a great video! I have experienced this myself at the San Diego Comic Con in years past. In recent years, however, the con has made efforts to correct this and make it more fair so that fans can have a chance at getting exclusives and signatures. Before the corrections were made, many attendees would literally run to the booths to get exclusives, only to find that they were all gone before the show doors even opened. In some cases lines were capped a few minutes after the show started. It was egregious and flagrant on the part of some of the vendors, who often re-sold those same exclusives at twice and three times the original price. Luckily the show adjusted and gave attendees a better shot at getting those items. This year was the best year by far for us for signatures, where my son was able to get items signed by many of his heroes and not feel like we were fighting a million re-sellers. Many booths limited free signed items to only a few pieces, and some to only one item. This kept many people honest and really allowed the fans of these artist to meet their artistic heroes.

Peach did nothing wrong. She didn’t need to apologize. If anyone should apologize, it should be certain people in the whatnot crowd taking advantage of her so they could make a quick buck.

When I heard that Peach was signing up to 10 books, I pretty much gathered as many of her covers as I could and whittled it down to 10. I definitely brought some covers to sign and resell, but that was because they were books that I had buyer’s remorse on.
When I saw how long the line was, I decided to simply get the other comics signed and come back when the line died down. Big mistake.
When I came back and saw that the line was still long, I thought to myself, ”I think she might have bitten off more than she can chew”. Finding out that she was allowing people to go back on the line, I KNEW she bit off more than she could chews.
I aimed to get to the Midtown Comics booth signing on Friday but I woke up late and I was stuck in the back end of the waiting throng of people waiting in waiting area before the con opened and the line was already capped by the time I got to the booth at 10:15.
Even though I went all four days, I didn’t hear anything about the Peach incident until the Monday signing at Midtown Comics.

10 signings is way to many. It should of been 2 max. If you're a fan you don't need 10 signatures.

I really respect you ways giving your opinion, you don't seem biased like some comic personalities. We can tell you are concerned with what is fair for the true fans. Peace brother.

The people that did this out of greed are trash and I hope their businesses go under. She deserves better than this.
