Airtight gateway for my filament dry box project

My final design after experimenting with various airtight(ish) gateways for a filament dry box. This is another project I've been working on over the last weeks. Because my 3D printers dislike moist filament.
The gateway uses synchronized doors with gaskets and a latch to fix the filament in place and prevent airflow when not in use.

To make it actually air tight you would need the seals to also surround the filament itself. An O-Ring of proper size for example would do the things you’re doing with that while also only needing 2 simple parts (ring + print), or you could make a conical wipe ring using TPU so that it could be made to your own specs which would likely reduce the friction on the filament if well tuned.

"Airtight-ish" came up as "airtight fish" in my subtitles. I've always wanted to know how an airtight fish works.

A bit late to the party but you could just cast or use a thin piece of silicone clamped in a circular window. Use a small punch or pin to make a hole smaller than the filament diameter and thread the filament through the hole. It'd be self sealing around the filament and self lubricating with no need to clamp afterwards. Also easily replaceable.

Great idear, but isn't it possible that the moisture get sucked up the Filament like capillary effect?

How about a tight PTFE Tube (1.8mm)? So no special mechanism is needed?
