My CIMA Experience - an overview of my experience in becoming a CGMA! 😃

In 2017 I set upon my journey to becoming a Qualified Accountant. 2.5 years later of no weekends, long evenings felt all worthwhile after I passed all CIMA exams first time!

Throughout my journey I really felt like there was a lack of transparency of what it was really like to study towards the CIMA qualification. Although this is beyond me, I will be producing videos on various aspects of the CIMA syllabus, PER, CIPD & what it is like to be an accountant working in one of the world largest companies.

If you are looking forward to this then please make sure you do subscribe!

Many thanks,
Craig

As someone who is about to start my CIMA in a few weeks, this was very helpful mate. Not many videos on YouTube actually go into detail about what the course entails. I’ve subbed for more!

Glad to have found your channel! I find the cima website hard to navigate and you have a nack to summarise this information succintly.

Your a great communicator, do you have any resourrces on communication style? Or tips on how to become more articualte?

I agree wholeheartedly that there is a large gap between academic accounting and real life work force accounting.

Great content, thanks! I know you said that potentially you’ll make a whole video on the PER but I’d really appreciate some quick advice as soon I have to make a decision as to whether I accept a permanent offer from my current job. I currently work in an Accounts Payable department at a transactional level but I’m looking to start my CIMA qualification. Can you meet the Practical Experience Requirements while only working at a transactional level? At my current job I’m not sure when I’d be able to gain experience with “management accounting” tasks so I’d like to know how much of the PER (if any) I could gain while working at a transactional level. Thanks and best of luck with the channel

I have 2 degrees as an Accountant and a Licentiate in Administration. I had to study English from 0 to C1. It was kind of the same: passing A1, A2, B1, B2, and finally got an official C1 certificate. Now, in order to become a chartered accountant at Cima, I have to start from 0! If I got that qualification, I think I can die in peace. Also studying German at the moment.

Thank you for the insightful video! I am looking to start the CIMA course next month with Kaplan, I will be doing this alongside my current job however I would like to get a job in the Finance industry to build my work experience. I do not have a degree but I do hold a level 3 business qualification, how would you advise the best to get a job in finance without the necessary qualification?
