Universal Camouflage Pentagon Pitch Meeting

Apparently, we actually spent billions of dollars on focus groups and military research at the Pentagon in order to determine the UCP camouflage was a good idea.

“We asked soldiers what they wanted, and we gave them this instead”

"Is this uniform a computer? Does it store data?"...
I honestly believe somebody in the higher ranks asked these questions...

This seems to be a legitimate Pentagon meeting...

I find this camouflage does very well with concealing the high homeless population in Colorado Springs, especially in the winter when there is snow on the ground which increases the camo's effectiveness.

Could be worse. You could be wearing the "arctic blue" Navy version, so that if you fall overboard you'll NEVER be seen.

Soldiers: “Army, can we have Multicam?”
Army: “No. we have Multicam at home.”
Multicam at home:

What makes this funny is that it seems so realistic

There are four features of the ACU that soldiers actually asked for:
1. Shoulder pockets, since after Somalia we were wearing body armor constantly and couldn't really use chest pockets.
2. The mandarin collar, since body armor often rubs against the neck.
3. The sun hat (or "boonie") as the standard headgear, because at the time the Army had gotten rid of patrol caps and was making soldiers wear either the beret, or a helmet. Boonies are actually practical hats for a field environment, so they wear originally issued with ACUs, until a bunch of sergeants major got fed up with soldiers pointing out that AR 670-1 actually allowed them to be comfortable, and got it changed.
4. Velcro fasteners ON THE TORSO ONLY. Those of us who were wearing heavy Ranger Body Armor all day every day asked for that (and some of us modified BDU coats that way) because the buttons on the BDU coat could cause blisters (same reason that we started fastening our dogtags to a belt loop instead of wearing them around our necks). We didn't want Velcro everywhere, just on the parts of the uniform that would be under a heavy plate and couldn't be accessed in the field anyway.

To be fair to SGT. Cappy here, I'm 100% sure most soldiers would rather die than deal with non combat bullshit

To be fair, i think the army was more worried about fratricide than the enemy, which says something about the whole conflict.

"we found out that the average soldier cares way more about not having to deal with bs garrison task, "
Man I felt that

Still think they should send the UCP to the Navy. Blends in with the ship but would make them easy to spot if they fall overboard.

I remember when they gave this to us. We went out into training and everyone said "Did they never look at this?"

This would be hilarious - if it weren't so tragic. No one wastes money better than the US Dept of Defense.

"So you ignored the science and made the worst possible camouflage, shouldn't that be hard to get greenlit?"
"Nope super easy barely an inconvenience"

I hated that uniform when I saw them release it (I was still in high school a the time). I like how you brought up the night vision talking point. They acted like that justified the fact that the naked eye can easily see it from 500 meters away. Some questions: how many soldiers did this crappy uniform get killed, at what cost to the taxpayer, and who paid for the decision to approve it?

Seems like Family guy had an even better idea . Peter was dressed as a clown while marching with troops, he says, " You guys are crazy they will be looking for army guys."

Literally laughed out loud at "it's 2004 so don't ask don't tell" which is a tough ask in today's blow some air out of your nose world.

“So you got a new uniform for me?”
“Yes sir I do!”
“Not listening to soldiers is TIGHT”

I love how he worked the sponsorship in so seamlessly. I actually watched the entire video, even the ad. I wish more creators had this talent
