The Pikmin 3 one is my most favorite as well, I think Olimars Piklopedia Entry in 3 Deluxe also mentions the drastic change in apperance and says its a subspecies iirc

Fun fact:Pikmin 3 bettle is not the same creature as 1 and 2. This is noted in the Pikopla. They are a sub-Species being closely related.

Btw, the irdescents flint beetle’s piklopedia entry in Pikmin 3 confirms that it is a subspecies, and the other ones are different
