I’m so glad I finished school before this became such a huge issue. My school had no metal detectors, never had a gun issue, no drills(except for fire), etc. It’s a shame student now have to deal with this. A school should be a place of learning, somewhere you can feel safe. We shouldn’t need to worry about getting shot while in 4th period math class. Some schools feel like a prison with the amount of security that’s been added. A very sad state of affairs we find ourselves in. 😢

Our school has a metal detector at the door!! Start getting these installed and you won't have these problems!!!!

In the late 80's our high school had metal detectors back THEN. It's not the guns that's the problem it's the students who bring them to school

When I was in high school in Florida we had a rule that guns could be in or on your vehicle if you had them mounted and locked. Tons of kids had rifle racks and one year as a prank a student parked his truck with a decomissioned .50 cal in the back on a mount that was "technically" within the rules. Our principal was a really cool retired marine and took a picture next to it😂. Lots of kids brought pistols and shotguns in their bags, it was an open secret but we never had any problems because of it. That being said, I don't think the kids having the guns is as big of an issue as to why they want to have the guns at school. Our school even had a rifle club.
