Eddie Murphy was only in his early 20's and he was considered the only thing saving SNL during the time he was there in the early 80's. He was the main star. Many lists have him as the greatest cast member of all time cause of it. He unofficially is the only cast member in history to host while being a cast member. He had the best career of any SNL cast member while they were on the show, releasing classics in comedy history like Delirious and Trading Places.
