Don’t cry Obi-wan, Qui was always gon

It would've been very interesting if that happened. Yet there being 2 Obi-Wans would be confusing, and it wouldn't change the quote a lot

I prefer this version becouse in my opinion Qui-Gon Jinn is the perfect version of an jedi master and symbol of wisdom

“Of course I know him, he’s me.” Is my favorite quote and favorite part out of the movies. (Besides Qui Gonn’s trash talk to jar jar) It’s iconic as fuck and just gets me excited for the rest of the movie every time

Would I have wanted that?

No as its too confusing

Huh... that... would've been quite interesting, but I'm happy with the characters we got. 🤔

Imagine if Qui-Gonn fought Anakin. That would've been something!

The version we got is better. In episode 4, Ben says he's Obi-Wan. R2 said he belonged to Obi-Wan. This could've been both the real Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon, thus making it more confusing. What we got is fine.

Wow that’s actually a cool explanation but I am happy we got obi wan as the character he is today

Phew! This could have broken the prequels way harder. Who ever told George not to do that, I want to buy them a beer. Or if George did it himself, I'll still buy him a beer.

Jedi arent supposed to have attachments, so Qui Gon taking Obi Wan's name is clearly shouting to the jedi council "Hey! Look at me! Im attaching real hard! Yeah! Thats right!"

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” ah moment

One part about this duel of the fates also foreshadows how the rest of the movies play out. Qui Gon representing the fall of the current Jedi order, so the Sith have a victory that is short lived because the next generation shown by Obi Wan causes their downfall shortly thereafter.

I think the idea that Qui-Gon dies fits better

That would've been the biggest shock in history, because people would've expect Obi-Wan to live through the fight for obvious reasons.

From memory this video has it backwards, Qui Gonn was still gonna die but Obi-Wan was gonna take his name, that means his real name is Obi-Wan but he would go by Qui Gonn for the prequels which is why Luke knows him as Old Ben Kenobi and he says that he has not heard the name Obi-Wan for a very long time

Don’t cry now Obi-Wan, Qui is now fully Gon

I mean the about 20 years that passed between 3 and 4 while Obi-Wan was going by the alias Ben, can be considered a "long time" already.

Reminds me of that Simpsons Episode with the real Seymour Skinner appearing in town :D

When obi Wan said that Lucas didn't have any of the prequel stuff written. It's still makes sense to say that even if it was his old name since no one had called him that for 20 years. In fact it makes more sense since if he did take obi Wan from his master, when he died wouldn't have been the last time he heard it since he would have used it himself for many years.
