AWS - Creating an AWS Account and Setting Up IAM

An overview on how to sign-up for AWS and create an IAM role for access control for resources.

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) helps you securely control access to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and your account resources. IAM can also keep your account credentials private. With IAM, you can create multiple IAM users under the umbrella of your AWS account or enable temporary access through identity federation with your corporate directory. In some cases, you can also enable access to resources across AWS accounts.

Do I need an IAM role created to launch an EC2 instance for just personal use?

Why is that every time I try to connect to my instance I have to create a new PEM file and password ? The old ones seem to expire after every session end

In IAM users sign-in link I click on custmize in that link can I put my original name to it

Every time I click on my dashboard this panel slides over in front of the Rout53 part and it covers it up with this get started BS, and no matter what I click on I can't get to the dashboard. WHY?

Not sure I understand your point when creating an IAM acct. Initially, you said we create IAM acct. to lock down our root acct. Then at the end, you say that we need to use root acct to create users. How can we use it, if we locked it down? Then also, user name we created in IAM, is Administrator. How do I log in with it? just type administrator at the AWS login screen? And i understand that we can find all that clarified elsewhere, but for a video as basic as this one, it would be helpful to explain. Otherwise, great video with respect to clarity of the matter explained, and no crappy geeky talk as many of the presenters like to waste our time with :-)
