From my experience, every job announcement has specific requirements. Read the announcement and provide what the application requires. Some require cover letter, some require college transcripts, some require writing samples etc.

Hey Armand, any chance you can do a video on current secret and top secret clearance holders (usually from military job) and which departments basically preference these candidates over others?

I got direct hired in 2021 as a GS 12 in a competitive service position (in a "hard to fill" job) directly from the private sector. But truth be told, I had prior experience as a Federal Contractor that translated well into my job series. So it is possible to be hired as a higher GS grade without prior Federal Employee experience.

Armand, have you covered how to use non competitive status for Americorps Members. I don't believe I knew that I had that status until the time expired. It may be useful for college students or others who serve as members. Thanks for the great information.

Have you heard anything about the IRS as an agency? It seems to be a mix of feedback. Some have said they didn't have a good experience but many have said that they did. They seem to be one of the agencies I see the most job postings for. Also, do you have any idea how long the hiring process can take? I'm still waiting on feedback on an announcement for an IT Specialist position with the IRS that closed out back in November. It has been almost 3 months and I have not received any updates on my application. I also sent an email to the email address listed in the announcement and haven't heard back. So far, with other agencies I've had a 4-5 week turnaround time (from the closeout date) on receiving a referral/non-referral on my applications. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Quick Question. Does the Government call you for an interview or do they email? Lately have been getting a lot of 800 calls and spam calls. Should I answer it?
