I've compared this with HD800s, Clear MG, Arya, Jade ii, TH900mk2 and also K872.
And I finaly found out that K812 has the most enjoyable, well balanced sound.

I love my K812's. They are remarkable headphones and it was nice to see how they are made.

I do sound effects design on the side for PC Games and am also an audiophile. I own both the HD800 and K812 as well as the LCD-3 and LCD-XC. The K812's might be my favorite of the 4 but as far as open back dynamic reference headphones go ... I prefer it to the HD800.

For me the HD800 is a tool and a good one at that, I like it very much. But the K812 just as accurate as the HD800, but is far less fatiguing and much better for pure music listening pleasure. The HD800 can be tamed with a good quality OCC Copper or OCC SPC cable, but even still it can be overly bright and too analytical sounding.

For those that are fortunate enough to own or have heard both...take what you like about the LCD-3 and HD800 and combine the 2 in a dynamic headphone and the result is the K812. They are amazing headphones and also pair very well with the AK240 and Woo Audio WA22.

The K812's are also quite possibly the most comfortable headphones I have ever owned. A far cry from the heavy Audeze LCD line, the K812's are like a feather. You even forget they are on your head afterwhile.

I would recommend the K812 to anybody looking at a flagship open back dynamic headphone without hesitation.

Wow! Now that's handmade! I'm very impressed and the wooded headphone stand is no laughing matter. I've seen that stand go for $200 dollars itself and to include it in a package with your headphones is not only a nice touch, but speaks volumes about integrity and class. Got to get me a pair ASAP!

Only found out about these in 2023! Bought them blind, and boy the hype is real. Haven't stopped listening to them. They surpass my hifiman ananda stealth and xs. Will have to ditch those and get the Arya as the k812 has raised the bar. How these aren't on those audiophile reviewers is beyond me.

You guys should update these to fix the major and minor issues. The sound is not competitive, the connector is limiting, and some of the materials need an upgrade. It could easily be a popular option if you just fix it.

I have a pair of K712's I've been wanting to listen to a pair of these, do any retailers in Southern California carry them?

Those wonderful headphones break as much as any other cheaper products. I have mine AKG K812 and after about 3 years they started to break out, and one side started to disconnect. First I thought the cable got bad and I ordered new cable, (very expensive by itself) but it didn't fix the problem. It is actually the other side from the connector that by pressing hard connects and disconnects. So the cable connecting both sides is bad. So if the headphones are made to the highest standards as it shows, why do they break so easily and why don't they have a lifetime warranty like other expensive brands. As I tried to research on the internet about servicing them, AKG will charge you a minimum of $300 just for looking at them plus any additional cost of fixing. There are not many services that will take a chance of fixing them since it's a very delicate and unorthodox design. So here I spent a fortune on those headphones and I'm stuck with a piece of garbage unless I wanna spend half of the price for fixing it. I don't recommend those headphones to anybody.

I don’t know how the 812 sounds and I don’t have that kind of money for them, but I like the balance of the AKG K420 modified by me with a copy of the grado L cushion from aliexpress, with tighter mechanical damping of the capsule and 4 central holes sealed with more transparent one than main damping material, also without a mesh on the outer side of the body, the sound is amazing, fast, dry and detailed, a huge natural sound stage, without sibilants and other unpleasant resonances in the frequency response (unlike the K612, for example, which whistle unpleasantly on electric guitars, the resonance in this area is so strong). It’s a pity AKG didn’t think of making such headphones at one time, and I don’t think they will do it at all, because these corporations can’t be reached even if your ideas offer great sound.
