I HAD THIS VIDEO ON A TAPE FULL OF NURSERY RHYMES WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND IM SO GLAD I FOUND IT

OMG I FINALLY FOUND I could only vaguely remember the tune of the song and the fact that a man with spaghetti for hair was playing an instrument. I must've been 4 or 5 years old. My mother told me I always danced around with a toy guitar whenever this song came on and that I was obsessed with it. My life is complete!

I watched this collection of nursery rhymes religiously as a kid in the early 80s and this was one of my favourites! Just downloaded the whole thing for historical purposes hahahahaha

Great memories here. A lot of people don’t realise that this song is actually an allegory for the fall of the iron curtain and was banned in most of Eastern Europe until as late as 2005. The actor in the video, Alan Spearhouse, (who went on to briefly star in U.K. police drama The Bill), was given an MBE in 1992 in recognition for the part he played in the reconciliation of the east and west superpowers and his humanitarian work. He still performs today, and has written a number of children books.
