The word "K-pop" is actually misleading, to be honest. K-pop has all sorts of music from full-on rock bands to what you might expect from pop. Stray Kids is unique because they produce, write, and compose almost all of their own music, and they just do whatever they want. Lol

I think a lot of people expect K-pop to just be regular pop music. And parts of it K-pop is actually an industry, not a genre. K-pop stands for Korea + Popular. So it's a umbrella term that encompasses all the sounds. You will find some groups that have more of a hip-hop sound, some that are more rock based, some that are sugary sweet cutesy pop, and a healthy mix in between. It's quite common for them to have both rap & singing in the same song. Some groups are more focused on one, and some are just vocals. Most are divided into boy groups, or girl groups. There are a few that are co-ed & have both, but they are very few & far between.

On that note, Stray Kids have managed to carve out a niche for themselves. They have what has been termed as Mala Taste music. It's commonly termed "noise" music, and they have embraced it. They actually have a album called NoEasy, and the title track from that is Thunderous. They are very unconventional. For one, they were actually put together by the leader of Stray Kids. He was given the chance to make his own group, then they went through a survival show to prove that they had what it takes to make it as a group. Second, they make their own music. From the lyrics, to the tracks, and the production, and part of the choreography. This is not common in any group. Normally the company decides what kind of group they want & then pick trainees to make it. And the group is given songs to sing, they don't normally get to make their own songs till they are well established. Stray Kids have been making their own since day one. They actually released an album made up of the songs from the survival show BEFORE they debut. And they want their songs to have meaning. So their lyrics are pretty meaningful. Most of their songs are meaningful, some are slap-backs at haters, some are just bragging songs saying that "this is them", and some songs are for their fans. So turning on the subtitles for their songs is always good.

Have fun exploring Stray Kids music. They have a lot to offer. And I'm sure that other people will suggest other groups, because there is a LOT of groups out there with lots of sounds & styles to discover.

Hey, just an FYI, when watching a kpop music video you'll need to turn on the English caption to understand the lyrics and what they're singing/rapping about.

For kpop videos you don't need to worry about copyright as long as you show the company logos and the entire video.

This song isnt in the movie but they do have a song on there. Stray Kids have been friends with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman for awhile. It started back in 2021 when the guys did a Deadpool themed performance on a Kpop battle show called Kingdom Legendary Wars. It drew Ryan's attention and he began listening to their music, became a fan of them and occassionally put something about them on his instagram. Felix (deep voice) and Hugh got pulled in too and there have been several interactions. They have all teased this collab for over a year so fans are ecstatic over this.

So cool that you are checking out Stray Kids! I never listened to kpop before and i happened to stumble upon one of their songs. What a journey it has been! Their song God's Menu is great but the lyrics really sum up what their music is- self produced, different and diverse. From my limited experience, people like kpop because it's fun! Their music helped me get thru cancer treatment.

Stray kids are unique because they are self produced & write their own music, plus 2 members are from Australia… kpop tends to have a vocal & rap line, but their music draws from many musical influences, & they do have some purely vocal tracks too… their music videos also have many references to pop culture in general, which is part of the fun, & some of the smoothest transitions in MV’s….

I really enjoyed your reaction, thanks for showing our boys some love. Ryan Reynolds is a big fan of Stray Kids and has been for a few years now, and of course Stray Kids are big fans of his and the marvel movies as a whole, so this was a perfect collaboration for everyone involved.

A little about the group. Stray Kids are a South Korean group consisting of 8 very talented men (they debuted in 2018 as a 9 man group, but one member left in late 2019, so some of their earlier videos will have the extra person in them).

They don’t fit the “k-pop norm” and tend to mix a lot of different genres in their music. They have no set roles and each member can sing, dance and rap. They are entirely self produced (writing, composing, arranging, producing their own music).

The members are Bang Chan (the leader), Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin (my bias 🥰), Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. (The maknae/youngest).

You really can’t go wrong with any of their music, but some of their most iconic ones that I would recommend starting with are:
Lalalalala
Megaverse
S-Class
God’s Menu
Thunderous

I am always happy to chat about Stray Kids and more than willing to recommend other stray kids content to you 🥰

Hello fellow Italian^^ thank you so much for your reaction to our boys Skz. This song is not in the movie but their new release Slash will be and I'm so curious to see how they used it...
About them, Skz (or Stray Kids) actually has some of the best rappers in the industry so yeah their songs are rap heavy. Chk Chk Boom is actually pretty chill for their standards as they're sometimes criticized for being "noisy" (us fans actually love it). You should totally check out some of their other popular songs like "God's menu", "S-class" or "Lalalala". If instead you'd like to know the members better, I reccomend "Fam".
Their concert at I-days Milan was an unforgettable experience tbh and I rlly hope they'll come back here to Italy TT
also yes, I was one of the Stays (name of the fandom) who was mad at how our dear Italian media talked about them- like wtf
ANYW THANK FOR THIS REACTION AND SORRY FOR THE LONG COMMENT I JUST LOVE SKZ A LOT❤

I'm glad you liked the song/video! I think it's pretty common for kpop in general to have rap and pop mixed together, but stray kids is definitely heavier on the rap side. They have a lot of b-sides that focus more on vocals, but the majority of their singles/title tracks focus more on rap.

The members:
3:40 Felix
3:43 Han
3:56 Changbin
4:02 I.N.
4:09 Seungmin
4:12 Bang Chan
4:27 Hyunjin
4:49 Lee Know

Felix and Bang Chan are both Australian, the rest of the members are from South Korea. Their first song Hellevator was released in 2017, but they officially debuted in 2018 with the song District 9.

Some of their most popular songs are God's Menu, Maniac, Thunderous, and S-Class. I would suggest checking out some of those next. Some of my personal favorites are Scars(I'd suggest watching their performance on The First Take if you wanted to check this one out), Venom, and Hall of Fame (there's no MV for this, but the video of their performance for the Golden Disk Awards is really good)

to combine what a couple comments have said, "k-pop" refers more to the mainstream Korean music _industry, _ rather than a "pop music" sound that's simply from Korea. whether some k-pop fans would agree or not, I personally tend to count some k-rock bands like ONEWE and Xdinary Heroes as "k-pop" because they operate in that part of the industry in various ways, like being under certain companies and being promoted in certain ways (for example, ONEWE has done a couple dance videos that _usually_ only "typical" k-pop groups are invited to do, despite the band having approximately 8 left feet across 5 members lol)

For other kpop groups to react to here are some of my personal faves:

Aespa (girl group) "Armageddon" or "Drama"

TxT (boy group) "Deja vu" or "0X1=Lovesong"

Dreamcatcher (girl group, a bit of a different vibe, kind of underrated) "Justice" or "Maison"

Ateez (boy group) "Crazy form" or "Guerrilla"

New Jeans (girl group) "Supershy" or "Hype boy"

Enhypen (boy group) "Bite me" or "XO"

They debuted in 2018

They are ages 23 - 26

Fandom name is Stay

#2 Best Selling Artist in U.S 2023
#3 Globally Best Selling 2023

They are unique for several reasons...

First, the leader Bang Chan was allowed by JYP to hand pick all of the members himself. They were not placed together in a traditional way, by the company.

Second all of them are all arounders. They can all sing, rap, dance, produce and write.

Third, they have written and produced about 99% of their music.

Numbers of songs each member has copyrighted according to Korean Music Association (KOMCA) so far...

Bang Chan 184 (#3 in KPop)
Changbin 156
Han 152
Hyunjin 27
Felix 22
I.N 21
Seungmin 20
Lee Know 17

While they can all do everything they do have 3 different subunits...

3Racha... Bang Chan, Chang Bin and Han which are the main producers. They are always credited as 3Racha.

3Racha Achievements

- Four Time Billboard 200 #1 Producers
- Hot 100 Hitmakers
- 3rd, 11th, 12th Most Credited Idols on KOMCA
- Produced Albums Sold Over 20 Million Copies
- Japan Hot 100 Hitmakers
- 100+ Weeks on Hot 100 Lyricists
- 100+ Weeks On Hot 100 Composers
- 2023 Asia Artist Awards Best Creator
- Makers of Time Magazines 2020 #8 Best Song (their song Backdoor)

Danceracha... Lee Know (in charge of leading dance practices), Felix and Hyunjin. They also contribute to the choreography.

Vocalracha... Seungmin and I.N

While the songs are hype they always have significant meaning to them. Their lyricism is always insane.

Since they are so experimental their sound has its own genre and they have a very diverse discography.

Example... Gods Menu, Back Door and Case 143 all completely different sounds.

Recommend... Thunderous, Maniac or Gods Menu next

It's called paint balling, yes we have it here in America as well 😊

Thanks for your reaction! Please do more stray kids!

And yeah that was a james bond reference :)

I understand you expected something different. Kpop is an industry, it's really not a genre of music. Stray kids has any type of music but they're mostly known for their mala taste genre, which is a bland between pop, r&b, hiphop and dance with quick beat changes.
They honestly do over 40 different genres.

In kpop, there's often lots of rap/hiphop, dance, pop and r&b influences. People expect it to be like american pop, but it's really not a genre of music.
