Fact is no city can manage such high number of migrants. We need to create more major urban centres.Depending on 9-10 major urban centres is hopeless.

Why does Lallan have 6 children? Isn't there a 2 child policy in India? Lallan is a part of the problem.

Omg why keep having children if you are still living underneath the bridge.... Children suffer when parents makes poor choices

After living for 30 years in India I can tell you that unless government invests massively in educational infrastructure and healthcare things will remain at an impasse. Our educational, police, healthcare and judiciary system needs to be reformed but with endemic corruption and the divisive nature of the current government and the corruption of the prior, it is tough to see how the vision of prosperous India will be actualized. And harsh as it may sound please stop breeding like rapids. Why bring lives into this world only to suffer ordeals at all stages of their lives and without having an opportunity to redeem themselves because of the rotten educational system with poor quality teachers and rote learning.

homelessness is not anywhere near in any political agendas leave alone working towards it. while it is a major issue eating our society and potential from within. it is a pity that citizens of my country are still blaming the homeless for their life. if 100 people are homeless they might be addicts, lazy or alcoholics but cant argue the same if one million people are homeless. india is facing the worst crisis and my fellow citizens dont even care about it.

Yes India has extreme poverty and poverty leads to overpopulation. I hope things will improve in the coming years.

Team DW, could you please share the details on the complete documentary? I had an opportunity to view the homeless documentary of America, it was moving. Keep up the good work of showcasing the suffering of people, so it raises awareness among everyone.

Why that man has 6 kids, I never understand such people, you barely surviving and have that many kid you are reason of your as well as your children's spoiled future. In government hospital you can get sterilise for free but no just let them popping and these are very children who are most vulnerable to become criminals.

I'm an Indian who belongs to the lowest income group but I have no sympathy for such people. I think these were the very reason China implement one child policy, we need two child policy.

We will have conditions like this as long as there are governments who allow the elites to exploit the desperate.

In India you have three types of people.
1. The poor people, like we seen under the bridge
2. The working class people, who make a day to day living by working as a nurse, doctor, Carpenter, farmer, Day labourers and so on.
3. Then you have statans servants. These are the people who run big companies in various sectors that pay very little tax, who commit frauds, corruption, bribery, false accounts and many other illegal activities. These are the people who suck poor people blood.
Shame on the third category of people. With the grace of god I’m in the second category and I’m happy. God bless all.

Is this poverty common in India? How long does it take for the average Indian to save up for an iPhone?

We want to see people to the moon but can't care for our own. Indian leaders, through their cruelty, have shown themselves to be the most undeserving of any leaders in the world. We are meant to compete with China and how will that happen with their impassivity?
