This was the first PJ song I ever heard. I was in grade 8 when this album released and a friend's older brother bought it. I was at their house when he got it and was listening to it. I convinced him to record it onto a cassette for me. That same guy also introduced me to Smashing Pumpkins when melancholy released. His name was Sidney.

Something about the Jack Irons era. Whole band just felt a bit more... unhinged. Eddie's vocal shift to a more thin, weird space, Iron's spastic but tight drumming, the guitars. Idk you can just feel something different in this era.
I love all of PJ's diff eras, but this one just sticks out. Feels like they were all on the brink of insanity. Just a different edge to the sound and feel. VS and Vitalogy have that feral feel too, but idk every drummer brought something different to the plate and helped mix up the energy and sound. I love all the drummers of PJ but Jack Irons work with them is just something else
