Hart-Parr 30 In Action

A detailed look at one of the legendary tractors designed and built by the founders of the tractor industry. The Hart-Parr 30 was produced from 1919 thru 1924, this particular unit dates from 1922. Power is developed from a 464 cubic inch (7.6 litre) two cylinder horizontal gasoline engine with a 6.5in bore and a 7in stroke running at 750rpm. Hart-Parr claimed the engine rating at 15-30, however the Nebraska Tractor Test No.26 conducted in 1920 found it to develop higher in both counts: 19-31 to be exact. Built in Charles City, Iowa, the 30 retailed for $1395 in it's final year of production. Shipping weight is stated at 5,570lbs (2526kg) and the transmission offered a choice of two forward gears and one reverse. The cooling system is non pressurized and consists of an engine driven water pump while the radiator fan is powered off the flywheel via spring tensioned friction drive. The engine exhaust is directed forward through a small muffler and directly out the front of the tractor just above the steering axle. The clutch is a contracting friction band type, this design was replaced in new production tractors by a single plate friction disc type starting in 1923, making this tractor one of the last built with this design. My dad has a tag to one of those. It's the only one I have ever seen that's a 1923 they made only 300 and some that year. I want to restore the tractor one day. There a rare Beauty!
