Determination of Emf of a Cell :-
The electromotive force (EMF) is the maximum potential difference between two electrodes of a galvanic or voltaic cell. This quantity is related to the tendency for an element, a compound or an ion to acquire (gain) or release (loss) electrons. The electrode potential of a galvanic cell can be evaluated as the potential difference between two half cells (cathodic cell and anodic cell). The potential of a half cell can be measured by connecting it with Standard Hydrogen Electrode (SHE). The standard electrode potential of a SHE is assumed to be zero.
This video explains how to study the variation of cell potential of Zn-Cu Galvanic cell with change in the concentration of electrolytes at room temperature.
