A new ProPublica report finds that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito did not disclose a luxury 2008 trip he took in which a hedge fund billionaire flew him on a private jet, even though the businessman would later repeatedly ask the Supreme Court to intervene on his behalf. CNN’s Jake Tapper discusses this with expert panel. #CNN #News

The Supreme Court needs more oversight.

Interesting to note the article hadn't even been published when Alito wrote his op-ed. Rupert Murdoch made sure Alito got in front of it. This is the guy who took away a woman's right to decide her own health care. He makes me sick.

You know a Walmart employee cannot except a tip even? They would be fired on the Spot! Yet you can bribe a SCOTUS with trips and things?

This is what happens when you have a government entity with no checks and balances.

As a low level federal employee, I receive ethics training every year. I know that I cannot accept gifts. The dollar amounts that trigger the law are in the range of $25 to $50. Anything of value can be a gift. The feds I know would avoid any gift from someone who has business with the government in order to avoid even a perception of being influenced.

In business, under Sarbanes Oxley, we had to report $50 gifts. These Supreme Court justices are rotten.

Absolutely wide open corruption! This is dangerous and disgraceful when are we going to see these individuals held accountable!

Oh please, nobody thinks the rare good SCOTUS outcome in the recent voting rights decision suddenly redeemed the legitimacy of the court. Allen v. Milligan was a rare moment of legal sanity for the Supreme Court this year but it doesn't end the need for massive reforms like term limits and adding justices.

FACT: I’ve eaten burritos that are more supreme than this current court.

Jake nails it. How hard is it to admit you made a mistake? And that is the point---These Justices think they are gods or kings, in which their judgment on ANY matter can never be questioned. The hubris and gall of them to say that WE the People are wrong is the very problem.

When you accept valuable gifts from someone you become indebted to that person, like it or not.

Wow! The ‘seat’ would have been empty if he hadn’t gone?!?! These people are hiding far too much information from the public.

What's so hard about disclosing if you received a gift?

Is it any wonder the Supreme Court’s numbers are in the toilet? What a joke.

I'm politically independent, and until recently had absolutely no concern about the political ideology or behavior of our SCOTUS. This is utterly unacceptable and in the corporate world any competent and ethical Ombudsman would advise IMMEDIATELY terminating anyone failing to report this kind of activity.

I use to respect these judges, but now they’re like gum under my shoes. Corrupt corrupt
