When people start talking about wars over water, everyone pictures tooth and nail, Mad Max-esqe fighting...but our imaginations might be getting away from us here. Allow me to paint a more realistic picture for you.

China has dammed a river that feeds India from the north recently, so that could be a problem. But it just adds to the ongoing border trouble at the Line of Actual Control in the Himalayas (up above 13, 000 feet, so fighting is quite limited)

Water wars... probably not. Huge migrations caused by water shortage?? Unavoidable.

I'm glad you covered the exceptions.

What about Nestle in NA? That's another version of water wars that hits closer to home.

Got to like the irony of filming this with +/- 1 ton of snow behind! 🙂Thanks alaways for your reports Sir!

"If the dam were to go away, so would Egypt." Peter just has a way with words.

I am really happy that this series exists. With so many channels peddling fear mongering, it's nice to hear a reasonable voice that some of those fears are probably a bit overblown.

Peter, you missed a big one. South and Southeast Asia. China is building dams that affect many of the rivers that originate in the Tibetan Plateau. This affects rivers like the Mekong, Indus and Ganges among others. Maybe you could look at that.

Another interesting one is Singapore and Malaysia.

India and China have disputes regarding the Himalayan glaciers, mainly China diverting glacier water.

China and South Asian countries that are reliant on the Mekong River are already experiencing tension.

Thanks for the analysis! But I dunno if water conflicts make relationships between countries any better, and can’t make things worse…?

Rivers (water sources) go through many boundaries. One dam, in the hopes of controlling the river, can cause a war.

Peter, you need to have national television programs and stuff ro reach more people ao they can gain brain cells. You do good work and have taught me a lot and changed perspectives for years. Why don't I worry about water wars? Lake Erie is a 15-minute drive.

I thought he might bring up the Southwest USA water wars, which now include Saudi Arabia and their alfalfa farming operations.
