To be able to work because we want to work, not because we have to work. What a beautiful vision. Thank you, you give me hope.

The money is still going to flow to whoever's running the AI. And the economy will still be running because AI still needs resources and infrastructure and communication in order to interact with other AI. But the humans that aren't needed for work anymore will have no source of income and quality of life will degrade significantly as they can no longer afford the basic necessities. Nobody is going to actively go out of their way to prevent this, and if there is any resolution it will come as a result of us experiencing the natural consequences of devaluing people.

It's ok, knowing humans like I do, we'll just lower unemployment with genocide.

Since I might be jobless or my kids, I guess I have to invest all my money in AI companies.

No. We'll always work, we'll keep on using the latest technology to augment our abilities and continue building a new world.

Billions of bored human beings with no productive purpose sitting around looking for something to do. What could go wrong with that?

Horizontal technology like AI with it's relentless exponential growth will eat everything! I hope we can cooperate so no human left behind!

For how long will they let us not work? How long will it take for them to realize their time can be better spent, that being a super intelligence shouldn’t be doing all the heavy labour or any work for humans at all!!

Since AI is modelled after human intelligence, I can expect them to go on strike after being taken advantage by human beings

refreshing to hear the rational unalarmed take. I don't buy into any of the apocalyptic freaking out re: AI that's doing the rounds right now.

As long as they provide universal basic income and the freedom to work or starting a business if they choose to that would be nice.

Reminded of the movie Wall-E. Humanity are fat blobs just leisurely floating around stuffing their faces. 😂

Rich people ain’t even almost ready for poor people not to have to work.

Do you really think that if masses of people have no utility and zero prospect of one day having utility they will be permitted to take up space and resources? I fear the truly logical end is not nearly as kind as people might hope. Hope I'm wrong.

Ben also believes in optional transhumanism as part of the end game.

What is the other stuff? Very vague future. What's the collateral damage?
Ben. Can you name more than two 'stuff'?

So how will we afford to pay rent? How will we afford to buy food? Clothes? Universal income won't just cut it, the higher ups will just increase the price of things tenfold. It sounds fun, but in execution? No. Awful. Horrible. Horrifying. I reject our Terminator overlords. Might as well que the Brad Fiedel soundtrack if this is the route we're going.

No longer work for a living? Okay. That's fine. So long as they can still work for the purpose of being productive and contributing to society.

Economies don’t function without purchase power.
