4:25 - One Sided mesh. Use Solidfy in blender. Add .001 thickness. Duplicates planes and weight paint. Just makes sure to alt n and calculate faces to correct orientation. But this is the easiest way, its also quest compatible.

the reason the clothes are a diffrent colour for quest is becuase they are vertex painted, you can just paint it all white in blender and that should fix it.

i also reccomend avoiding using constraints as much as possible since they increase the frame time exponentially.. the more constraints you have on the avatar the longer it takes to calculate... they should be avoided if possible.

OH! and poyomi also has presets. (and rimlighting tends to look kinda meh on avatar since the avatar constantly looks backlit when theres no light behind the avatar making it not fit into the world. but thats just my opinion i guese)

4:28 you don't specifically need to duplicate the mesh you can just select the mesh and flip the normals or if its some specific area you can select it and flip normals only in that area

Don't ever duplicate the normal to hide the inside!
You destroy your optimization like that.
Instead select your opening, extrude the edge then merge the vertices at center and push the vertice a little bit inside. Vrchat and your framerate will thanks you.

0:35 you can combine blend shapes with bone animation for clipping issues (and just making scaling look better). I think this is called corrective blend shapes in the industry.

If you want a "root bone" for hair (or other things), you can create an empty object into your armature, and then drag the bones you want the physbone to move under the empty :D
Also toggle assist is such a nice time saver when it comes to making simple toggles or radials! I personally stray away from using av3 creator as I feel like it makes the controllers too "extra" for no reason. I prefer the simple 2 animation toggles over their 3 way set up, but ye that's just a preference thing.

2024 update and constraints ARE quest compatible, just be sure to use a VRC Parent constraint component, and for upgrading old models there's an option under the SDK tab in unity that will automatically convert normal constrains into vrc constraints

Dont know the beef creators have w fix model/ cats. Fix model is fine as long as you untick everything in the little settings menu next to it :) i use it all the time with every model! its good for getting rid of empty/ extra bones etc

Good Stuff. I Approve of this. I Share my physbone settings too and people really enjoy them. Anything that can help the community see the Vrchat avatar creation as less intimidating is a win for me tbh.

is it possible you do a tutorial how to use pumpkin tool? I dont know how to use it when it come to swap head and the hair bones doesnt transfer to the avatar.

better way to attach hats and hair. drag the model into the hierarchy. now in the avatars hierarchy open your arm and until you get to the head bone. drag the object into the head bone. boom easy and ques compatible, and no blender

The "Fix model" button in cats plugin still works, you just need to hit the button a couple times and it will fix itself (from my own experience with it that is). You should also make sure you are only using blender 2.93 at most and shouldn't be using any version above that.
