The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, presented Gallantry Awards and Distinguished Service Decorations at the Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on April 23, 2018.

President Kovind presented Shaurya Chakra to Naik Narender Singh, 9th Battalion, Parachute Regiment (Special Forces). He displayed unparalleled devotion to duty and exceptional battle craft while single handedly eliminating one enemy soldier and grievously wounding two.
