We're waiting every night
To finally roam and invite
Newcomers to play with us
For many years we've been all alone
We're forced to be still and play
The same songs we've known since that day
An imposter took our life away
Now we're stuck here to decay
Please let us get in!
Don't lock us away!
We're not like what you're thinking
We're poor little souls
Who have lost all control
And we're forced here to take that role
We've been all alone
Stuck in our little zone
Since 1987
Join us, be our friend
Or just be stuck and defend
After all you only got
Five Nights at Freddy's
Is this where you want to be?
I just don't get it
Why do you want to stay?
Five Nights at Freddy's
Is this where you want to be?
I just don't get it
Why do you want to stay?
Five nights at Freddy's, oh
We're really quite surprised
We get to see you another night
You should have looked for another job
You should have said to this place good-bye
It's like there's so much more
Maybe you've been in this place before
We remember a face like yours
You seem acquainted with those doors
Please let us get in!
Don't lock us away!
We're not like what you're thinking
We're poor little souls
Who have lost all control
And we're forced here to take that role
We've been all alone
Stuck in our little zone
Since 1987
Join us, be our friend
Or just be stuck and defend
After all you only got
Five Nights at Freddy's
Is this where you want to be?

I don't know what I was thinking
Leaving my child behind
Now I suffer the curse and now I am blind
With all this anger, guilt and sadness
Coming to haunt me forever
I can't wait for the cliff at the end of the river
Is this revenge I am seeking?
Or seeking someone to avenge me?
Stuck in my own paradox, I wanna set myself free
Maybe I should chase and find
Before they'll try to stop it
It won't be long before I'll become a puppet
It's been so long
Since I last have seen my son lost to this monster
To the man behind the slaughter
Since you've been gone
I've been singing this stupid song so I could ponder
The sanity of your mother
I wish I lived in the present
With the gift of my past mistakes
But the future keeps luring in like a pack of snakes
Your sweet little eyes, your little smile is all I remember
Those fuzzy memories mess with my temper
Justification is killing me
But killing isn't justified
What happened to my son? I'm terrified
It lingers in my mind
And the thought keeps on getting bigger
I'm sorry my sweet baby, I wish I've been there
It's been so long
Since I last have seen my son lost to this monster
To the man behind the slaughter
Since you've been gone
I've been singing this stupid song so I could ponder
The sanity of your mother

The point on Patriarchy was a little flawed. Women were OFTEN expected to keep quiet by MANY men and households, and men were OFTEN dominant. But Queen Elizabeth the 1st is a classic example of how that wasn't always true. Women certainly had to STRUGGLE much more on a societal level for dominance, but they did have it, and that would not have been unheard of to Shakespeare, given that the monarch of his country was a woman. Society certainly DEFAULTED to male dominance, but woman played a HUGE role in the development of society, whether they were socially dominant or not. Juliet's mother shame's her refusal to marry, but defaults the convincing to her husband. His anger at Juliet is shared by his wife, she's simply not as aggressive in its expression. I do believe the society was Patriarchal by default, but certainly in a much more nuanced manner than expressed in this video: "Men had all the power and women were expected to be quiet and subservient." None of the women in this play do that. Lady Capulet agrees with Lord Capulet, but still calls him out for being too angry. The Nurse even steps between Juliet and her father and tells him to back off, and then of course Juliet, is hot with rebellion. I just think a more nuanced approach to this topic would have been more helpful and accurate, especially given how important this subject is. We can't fight a problem that is not accurately explained, and defaulting to male dominance still happens.

Shakespeare wasn't even good for his time and definitely doesn't compare to modern authors. I wish we could pick our own texts for our GCSE's.
