Just so you know Tasmania is a party of Australia it is just a state that is an island under the main landmass

"There is no substitute" is an abbreviated form of Arnott's historical slogan "There is no substitute for quality" :)

I mean if you need to go to somewhere like from Perth to Melbourne, for work or week holiday, you’d fly but if you want to see the country along the way and take your time, you’d drive.

Australia has 6 states and 2 territories, you can drive to all of them Except Tasmania which is the smallest state separated by the bass strait, just under the mainland. When you look at the Australian map you will see a little upside down triangle island beneath the mainland, that is Tasmania.

Many friends growing up in Melbourne would pack into the car with the family and drive to the Gold Coast for school holidays.
Myself, I have driven from Melbourne to Uluru to Darwin for a holiday. Australians are not opposed to a 2-3 hour drive to drop in for lunch with a mate.

When I was a child my dad would pack up the car and the trailer and we would drive around the US for four weeks, camping and visiting the sites in different parts of the country. We loved it.

I recently moved from Perth to Sydney and drove across with my Partner and our dog. I recommend everyone do the drive at least once, there is so much to see and do and depending on the time of year it can be a real eye opener.

Driving it also allows you to play on the world's longest golf course spanning out 1365km over 2 States for something different 🙂

I live in South Australia and it’s definitely a mix of the two for travel preference! Road trips are a huge thing here and we have a very popular route called the Great Ocean Road that goes all along the coast! Most of the time it’s cheaper to drive from Adelaide (where I live) to Melbourne because of petrol costs compared to flights!

Best way to eat a tim tam is, bite the ends off each end, then use it like a drinking straw to drink the tea or coffee, be quick as it will melt then eat the rest. Send love from Australia

From an Australian, we travel by plane. Flights are so much cheaper than fuel, accommodation stop overs, car maintenance and all other costs associated with the long drives. Also a lot of Australia is a desert without access to facilities (especially if travelling from the east to the west).

The cost of flights is not cheap like where you, when we lived in Cairns we drove to Brisbane, 17 hours. We made it easier by stopping twice for a nights stay.
When I was a child we could get wizz fizz in a paper tube with a liquorice, you used the liquorice to get the wizz fizz.

I took the Indian Pacific train from Sydney to Perth. It was amazing!

I’m from Brisbane QLD, and I have to say domestic plane travel in Australia is VERY expensive - you often see people road tripping it around Australia. Plus, Australia does not have many domestic Airports (between 1 and 3 per state) so you can’t really travel via plane.
