FILM DESCRIPTION:
"I Am Sam" is the compelling story of Sam Dawson (Sean Penn), a mentally-challenged father raising his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning) with the help of a unique group of friends. As Lucy turns seven and begins to intellectually surpass her father, their close bond is threatened when their unconventional living arrangement comes to the attention of a social worker who wants Lucy placed in foster care.

We watched this movie in my psychology class because we were studying variations of mental disorders, and I just fell in love with Sam immediately, he's such a wonderful father and does his very best to take care of Lucy

I remember seeing this movie as a nine year old girl. I was dumbfounded by it because I had never seen or known a person with a learning disability and I thought they couldn't do anything by themselves. But Sam worked, lived by himself and raised his daughter!

He raised Lucy for almost 7 years with no issues than all of sudden she is rip from his arms not fair. Just because some has an Intellectual disability doesn't mean that they are incapable of learning or even raising a child they actually accomplish so many things with a little understanding, patience and some guidance.
