6 - 1 = 5
15 - 6 = 9
...
66-45 = 21
91-66 = 25

9 - 5 = 4
25 - 21 = 4

What if the difference keeps increasing by 4?
That would mean
X - 15 = 13
and
45 - X = 17
So X = 28 and the pattern of increasing differences increasing by 4 matches.
Overall pattern looks like
1
6 5
15 9 4
28 13 4
45 17 4
66 21 4
91 25 4
In a nutshell, the method of finite differences is a good starting place for solving many sequence problems.

another pattern 1, 6, 15, 28, 45, 66, 91 | [ 1 + 5 = 6 ], [6 +5 +4 = 15 ] , [ 15 +5 +4 +4 = 28 ], [28 +5 +4 +4 +4 =45 ].... and so on .

We by random choose 5 to add on 1 st number and the proceed to add 4 to every number and then add it .
