Personally want the prehistoric vultures from the la brea tar pits to play as since there no animals that eat rotten corpses yet. Or the prehistoric La brea owl which is a more terrestrial owl.

But in more personal opinion.. I hope they add an ai predator to the field. To both make it interesting and possibly keep herbs from actively kosing... Idk just an idea

It has been stated by the Devs in the Ecos Question and Answer video that Elks aren't getting added, because they likely arrived in La Brea after the Period the Game Takes place

hi congo just wanna inform u that game takes place 20 k bc and grizzly bears came to la brea around 10 k bc so we wont have them in game also ecos isnt really a game for small game animals like amazon ascension tho i like coyotes and bobcat we prob wont have them as playbles carnivores i want to see is lion atrox, puma, jag, gray wold omnivores arctodus and black bear herbivores shrub ox and ones named in video except elk that dint live in lowland region just like they dint want to add latifrons instead of antiquus and californian tapir as npc

Human AI that randomly hunts you would be cool, and making them AI would prevent them from being played by the whole server. The devs could also make them super expensive so only late game players play as humans

First of all, the Giant Short-Faced Bear you showed is actually Arctodus pristinus, which didn’t live in La Brea. Even if it did, it went extinct about 300, 000 years ago, while the game takes place around 25, 000 years ago. Second, the size you mentioned is far off; no bear ever reached 3 or 4 tons. That would be about the size of an African Elephant. Even the largest bear, Arctotherium angustidens, didn’t exceed 1, 600 kg. Third, Arctodus is the only omnivore we know for sure will be added. I think it’s likely to be included because, first, there’s a cave in the game called the “Arctodus Cave.” Second, Paiaeo, the co-producer of Ecos: La Brea, has shown us concept art for both in-game animals and NPC creatures, along with Arctodus simus and Pacific Mastodon. He even made a post on Twitter about Arctodus simus. So, it’s safe to say that Arctodus simus is the most anticipated and talked about animal in their Discord, and it's the most likely to be added next.
