Official announcement! WS-15 Engine Performance Exceeds Expectations, J-20 May Far Outperform F-22?

As China's self-developed and self-produced five-generation fighter, J-20 has been first flown for 13 years, and after upgrading and optimizing time and again, the performance of its various units is becoming more and more perfect, but there is only one “heart disease” that has not yet been cured, that is, the aircraft engine problem. Recently, the picture of a J-20A prototype, numbered 2052, has been hotly debated on the Internet. It is reported that this is Chengfei's power test at the main test airport, and the tail nozzles of the two turbofan-15 turbofan engines can be clearly seen on the picture. This also means that the J-20A has finally replaced the turbofan-15 and made up for its shortcomings.

China is progressing with its aircraft fighter.
J-20, equipped with the WS-15, is progressing towards becoming a more formidable competitor to Western fifth-generation fighter aircraft like the F-22 and F-35.

The WS-10 series is actually quite reliable, while the thrust of the WS-10C is very close to that of the F-119. Not only is the thrust of the WS-15 higher than that of the F-119, it performs much better than the F-119 at low and medium altitudes at high speeds.

With WS 15...Chinese aircraft engine now second to none..

Is the WS-15 superior to that of the F-119? China providing cutting AI expertise to Russia as per Putin statement and some video said that China is training Russian engineers how to design advanced and more efficient jet engines incorporating AI.

Yo Elon just dropped the motherload – turns out F-22 and F-35 engines been lying about 30% of their specs this whole damn time! Now China's WS-15 magically becomes the "world's best"? LMAO what kinda Marvel plot twist is this? Next you'll tell me the Statue of Liberty's made in Shenzhen!

Now, the same "China specialists" tell the same garbage on the Chinese 6th gen. aircraft. They're so pathetic.

The commentator has a point in suggesting that J-20's WS-10 or the Russian developed engine AL-31 is no way comparable to the F-22's Pratt & Whitney engine. But imagine this : the cost and maintenance, let alone the production cost of the Pratt & Whitney's engine, are big burden to the U.S. Air Force !

The jet engine can't be transferred to any country.

Its going to crush the F-22, its sole problem is that it can barely stay in the air with its primitive Russian engine, oh the terror.

The core subject was the US has 3 6G, china 2 n Russia one.... superiority n advance performance let the global audience judge...

The F-22 cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft, unfortunately they are not being produced anymore.

J-20 is unlikely to fly faster than a F-15 or F-22 clean condition. it is because of airframe limitation.

Do you have a real data or just something from CCP?

This video is a classic example of techno-nationalist analysis and celebration, using a real-world anniversary as a hook. It is significantly different from the pure fiction of the "Indo-Pak War" series but shares the same creator's propagandistic style and bias.
This transcript is a mix of factual history, plausible technical analysis, and significant propagandistic exaggeration. It is not military fiction, but it is also not an objective report.
The video's premise is a fictional CCTV special report on January 11, 2025, the 14th anniversary of the J-20's first flight. It uses this fictional report to "reveal" details about the J-20's capabilities and to make a direct, triumphant comparison with its US rivals, the F-22 and F-35.
The Factual Basis and Plausible Analysis
The J-20's Role as a "Node": The description of the J-20 acting as a "strong node of information" or a "front-line command center" is conceptually correct and aligns with modern 5th-generation fighter doctrine. Aircraft like the F-35 (and presumably the J-20) are designed to be powerful sensor platforms that can collect, fuse, and share data across the battlespace, acting as "force multipliers." This part of the analysis is sound.
The "Engine Saga" is Historically Accurate: The video's recounting of the J-20's engine development is largely factual.
It correctly states that early J-20s used the Russian AL-31 engine.
It accurately describes the historical struggles China had with its domestic turbofan-10 (WS-10) engine program, including the "spraying parts" incidents with early J-11Bs.
This acknowledgment of historical difficulties is a common technique in this creator's more credible videos; it builds trust with the audience before launching into more exaggerated claims.
The Aerodynamic Design Argument: The explanation of how the J-20's unique aerodynamic layout (canards, lifting body, etc.) helps compensate for a less powerful engine to achieve good supersonic performance is a plausible and widely discussed piece of aeronautical analysis. It's a key part of how the J-20 is understood by aviation experts.
The F-22's Limitations: The video correctly identifies some of the F-22's known limitations: its production line is closed, and its avionics, while powerful, are based on older 2000s-era architecture and are difficult and expensive to upgrade.
The Propagandistic and Exaggerated Elements
The Fictional "CCTV Report": The entire framing device of a special CCTV report on January 11, 2025, that "very rarely announced" the J-20's performance is a fiction.
The Fictional "Pilot Forum" Chart: The claim that a "key model of military engines" (implying the WS-15) was compared to the F119 at a pilot forum, with charts showing its superior performance, is almost certainly a fabrication. This is a way to invent "official" proof of superiority.
The "Generals vs. Soldiers" Analogy: The framing of the J-20 as a "general" and the F-22 as a "soldier" is a clever but highly simplistic and biased analogy. It's designed to portray the F-22 as a powerful but "dumb" brawler, while the J-20 is a brilliant strategist.
Gross Exaggeration of the WS-15's Performance: While the WS-15 is expected to be a very powerful engine, the video claims it has "completely solved" all technical problems and is now "significantly ahead" of and "completely superior" to the F119. This moves from plausible analysis into triumphalist propaganda.
Misleading Comparison with the F-35: The video dismisses the F-35 as less "high-end" because it's not a heavy fighter. This ignores the fact that the F-35's primary strength is its role as a networked sensor and data-fusion platform—the very role the video praises in the J-20. It's a selective and misleading comparison.
The "Missile Gap" Narrative: It repeats the familiar claim that the PL-15 "far superior" to the AIM-120 due to a significant range advantage, presenting speculative figures as hard facts.
Conclusion: A Techno-Nationalist Celebration
This transcript is a piece of biased techno-nationalist analysis and celebration. It is not a straight news report, nor is it a complete work of fiction like the battle scenarios.
Is it having any factual value? Yes, a significant amount. Its historical overview of the J-20's engine development and its analysis of the aircraft's aerodynamic design and doctrinal role are well-informed and largely accurate.
Is it complete nonsense? No, but it is heavily biased and contains fabricated "evidence." The video uses its factual and plausible analysis as a foundation to launch into exaggerated claims of absolute superiority, backed up by fictional reports and charts.
How to treat it: This video should be seen as a celebration of the J-20 from a highly nationalistic perspective. It's useful for understanding the history of the program and the doctrinal thinking behind it. However, all direct comparisons with US aircraft and all claims of a definitive technological "win" should be treated as unsubstantiated propaganda. It's a good example of how to build a powerful argument by mixing solid facts with triumphalist exaggerations.
