as a young brit cyclist in the 80s I idolised LeMond, I still do...but as time has gone by I admire him for so much more than simply being a legendary cyclist. . .amazing bloke, a genuine icon.

I know this story inside out in every detail....but I still cant wait for this!

GL did a signing event at our shop many years ago. He went far over the scheduled making sure everyone in line got something personal. A good man.

LeMond was my childhood icon growing up. He is an absolute legend in the sport. I am so glad that I grew up with the likes of him, posters, frames, hats, tee-shirts... I had everything. His smile is instantly recognizable and still shines bright today. If I ever open a bike shop, his accomplishments will adorn the walls and spaces. The greatest American cyclist of all times if you ask me! Look forward to this film and his story.

Can't believe they are finally getting around to making this movie. Big Greg Lemond fan since the 80's. I have 3 Lemond bikes I ride all the time and one is a 1991 Lemond Calfee team Z bike. I'd love to actually meet the man someday. I never understood why Wheaties never put Greg on the cereal box especially after his 1986 tour win. Makes no sense. I still have every Lemond bike catalog from all the years when he started making bikes. Should be a exciting movie. Still my favorite cyclist of all time.

On the last day everyone knew he was too far behind to make it up on so short a time trial stage. Greg had his mechanic mount larger gearing. He rode on aero bars, at the time a technical innovation. He didn't downshift coming out of the tunnel like everyone else, but instead pushed this insane gear. In the end LeMond won by 6 seconds, the closest margin in Tour history. After Laurent Fignon crossed the line, and seeing his time collapsed, physically and emotionally devastated. The race of truth. The career of Greg LeMond is easily one of the most epic in all of sports.

I was well into racing when Lemond arrived on the international scene. Such an inspiration to this (then) young kid. I even got my hair cut like him in the early 80s, and had my racing bike painted Gitane Blue with yellow Benotto bar tape. A true LEGEND and all around great guy.

So glad to see all the love for LeMond in the comments! He is still my all time favorite cyclist, and like many here have said, he inspired me to start riding seriously when I was young. His cycling book from 1987 was my bible for many years. I hope more people get to know his incredible story!

I started bike racing in 1980, just as Greg was heading to pro racing in Europe, and being 4 days older than he is, I kind of lived my racing life vicariously via his racing success, as my own abilities limited me to relatively decent amateur status my entire 25 year racing career. Greg is the greatest bike racer the US has ever produced, and I was fortunate enough to see him race in person here in Florida that comeback year of 89.

I remember the first time i saw Greg was in Montreal at the Grand Prix Des Ameriques in 1988, the field blows by i see Steve Bauer, Jean Francois Bernard, Sean Kelly and many others, i was pretty excited to see everybody live. So and im standing there waiting and waiting then all of a sudden he casually rides by talking to this older guy who wasn't even in the race, i said to myself "hey greg lemond!!!" i was star struck to say the least. I know Greg was not on form and knew he was still recovering from his hunting accident the year before. When Greg won the tour in '89 he came back 2 weeks later for the montreal race, he broke away from the field and was all alone for several laps, when he came up the mont royal climb, i was beside myself, i was star struck again and again! 😄Then another 2 weeks later he won the World Championship Road Race, and im happy to say i saw Greg at his best. Those memories will stick with me forever. Even today at 50 when i ride my bike to work i still feel like im Greg Lemond 😊. He will always be my idol. 😊

GL to me will always be the essence of riding - watching him reminds me of the beauty of riding and the seeming effortless poetry of the road. I'm the same age as GL and like with him time has done a number on me, but when I'm riding I always aspire to find a similar purity of motion that he embodies.

Just watched this documentary and it's absolutely brilliant. This story needed to be told. Fignon counting his chickens before they were the pain of that was etched in his face on the podium in 1989. And Pedro Delgado actually comes across as a very likeable fella.
