I grew up in Omaha in the 70s and have been a severe weather/tornado freak ever since. I’ve never lived in Alabama and only recently discovered James Spann but I have to say, he’s the single best on-air meteorologist I’ve seen in my 53 years.

What a great job once again, James Spann!! You are indeed a unsung weather hero and deserve the upmost respect especially after the horrific tornado 🌪 outbreak in Alabama History on April 27th, 2011. Keep up the great work, James! The meteorologists at the 33/40 weather center are the best in the nation !!James, you’re such a dedicated meteorologist as are the entire meteorological team at 33/40 . Did these tornadoes last all night? Nighttime tornadoes are the most dangerous because they can’t be seen and once again, James your dedication has helped keep the residents of Alabama safe. What strength tornadoes were these? You’re so knowledgeable and I hope that the affected residents heeded James’ warnings. Again, GOD BLESS YOU James and the entire 33/40 meteorological team. What makes these areas of Alabama so vulnerable to such violent tornadoes and so often too? Living in these areas frequented by these violent tornadoes would be far safer with you, James and the weather team.

We're on the ridge overlooking the Farms, we could feel the wind intensify and the rain shift directions as it passed. Never lost power thankfully.

I lived in Harvest AL at the time and had been through man tornado incidents in my almost 49 years. That being said this was the single most terrifying day of my life. James Spann and all the other meteorologist that stepped up that day became legends that day. Many more people would have died without their commitment
