Super helpful! I'm an advisor with Morgan Stanley taking the CFP at the end of the year. Happy to see you uploading consistent content again!

Curious how you passed the CFP without a college degree as that's one of the requirements and you literally have to send them a transcript from your university saying you graduated.

I took the CFP exam this morning. I got my ass handed to me. I made A’s and Bs through the American College courses, but to be frank I feel those courses did little to prepare me for today. I even took a practice exam the CFP Board gives you, and did well. But then there was today. 😟

Do you need to be a CFP to start an investment firm? I know a few people who I could start investing for but I’m just an 18 year old finance fanatic who’s planning on going to college next school year

Hey Josh, I'm not taking the CFP but rather the Series 65 - Indep. Advisor Rep (IAR)...I'm starting my own crypto advisor business to help HNWI invest in crypto as part of their overall portfolio strategy. Going through the legal setup process currently. Do you have any tips or suggestions? I've been a subscriber (YT & mailing list) for the last 2 months binging on all your content. Thanks for all the value you share.

Thanks for the tips Josh!! I just started as an advisor a few months ago. I wanna start taking the CFP coursework after I get a few clients in my book and have a comfortable income, but am having trouble with closing on cold calls. Do you have any tips that you used to beef up cold call scripts?

I don't quite agree with Josh. The best way to pass is to acquire the knowledge base through the required 5 courses. BUT, MOST IMPORTANT is to study for the test which means to take practice exams. Get your hands on as many books that contain practice exams as you can. The CFP Board has thir questions in their bank. They have been screened and will appear on the test with slight factual variations. Take Estate Planning. The Board goes to the bank of lets say 1200 questions and pulls out just so many at random for the exam. You need to do the practice exams. Timothy Daulton (author) had these available. When I passed the exam, there was a 58% pass rate. Have things gotten easier. Don't think so. Practice, Practice, Practice. and GOOD LUCK

Hi Josh, thank you for the helpful tips! Quick question, did you purchase the practice exam and the BCC & Exam success prep courses? I am taking my exam this year and would love to know what you purchased and what helped you. Also, you mentioned you focused on the glossary and not the "Text book" - What text book are you talking about? Thank you in advance!

Do you NOT need a bachelors in Canada? I’m in America and need a bachelors AND 4k hours. Thinking about going the ChFC route.

Thank you, trying to boost my specific knowledge with financial planning before applying to Morgan Stanley. I have 1 year of experience, all licensing done, and will try and do my CFP if I get hired.
Any books you recommend for CFP that are like specific to financial planning? (I’ve read psychology of money, rich dad poor dad, ect.)

Thanks for this video!! I’m currently looking at transfer options from a community college to an university to finish my bachelors degree. I want to be as prepared as possible for the CFP. Besides looking to see if it is a CFP qualified program, what else should I look for in a finance and financial planning program?

Why do you think a college degree is required for the CFP exam in the US? I have taught myself all the personal finance basics and all the basics of mutual funds and ETFs and have real investing experience. I've been managing my family's finances since I was 19 and I feel like I have more knowledge than somebody with a 4 year degree.

For step number 2, do you not have to be legally certified before you can take on clients ?

Why do less people pass on their 2nd attempt? Burnt out from studying?

Hey Josh not sure if this is the same for Canada but do you need to have a college degree to have a CFP? In USA it says you must have one.
