The electric life of bees - Honeybees apparently communicate in a number of different electromagnetic dialects, both among each other and with plants. In fact, both plants and bees have an electric glow that is invisible to humans. When radiating that glow, plants emit weak, negatively charged electric fields, whereas bees become positively charged when they fly through the air, flapping their wings up and down at high speed. We now know that flowers radiate all kinds of electrical signal patterns. Bees are able to distinguish these different floral frequencies, called electroreception (Clarke, 2013)
