If we're talking hardware resolution, the 3DS' smaller screen did a fantastic job of hiding low res textures.

Of course this is a Graphic Comparison....But one thing really impressed me by his(3DS) side...He can Crouch and Walk also..which is great...👍

The 3DS version is VERY rough around the edges, but it was really cool how you could duck-walk, aim in 3rd person, watch the cutscenes in 3D and that they actually brought back the voice actor of Sigint for new lines.

Great video! But I think a better comparison would be the 3DS version in HD VS the PS2 version in HD since the PS3/Xbox 360 version received texture updates. The 3DS version with HD textures probably would look even better since the game had some light effects updated. The FPS was really a problem of the 3DS version, but at the time it really impressed me.

3DS looked like it was chugging, but it also had better looking shadows and more color to it

As I first played this game, I felt a lot of Peace Walker vibes with the crouch-walking and the stun circle. I’m pretty sure whoever made the port just pasted the engine along with whatever other things were left out of PW, like carrying soldiers.

The colors are just way, way better on the 3DS version. Definitely worth emulating that one over the HD version. The assets are better, the UI is better, and the new mechanics make it more fun.

I like the more refined shaders and new PW-style controls of the 3DS version over the original, but the poor frame rate was a problem.

Apart from the lower res the texture work in places on the 2DS is actually much better and more detailed, Bluepoint seems to clean up some textures too much and give others a cheap upscaling method of fake higher res through increased contrast.

I remember reading on back in the day that the 3DS version had way more refined visuals than the HD versions, and I always thought it was kind of a dubious claim because why would do it if the game already runs worse - and yet looking at both now, I'm shocked, 3DS Snake has normalmaps on his clothes, his face is way more pronounced and detailed, as is his hair, the colors are also better and there's envoirment effects on the characters in the cutscenes.

I still own my copy, I'm stunned THIS version hasn't been ported anywhere else, especially since this version seems like it has the upgraded Peace Walker controls instead of the original or the substance version - I dunno, I never played either. I bought a PS3 recently for MGS4, I'm gonna want to play the hd collection also

Wow even on Nintendo 3DS when he touch the tall grass it moves thats a amazing detail. Its funny how some New gen games don't have this like the grass or other plants don't move when u touch them
