Oh god - the memory and excitement of my first KK years ago.

Brilliant. This awakes old memories of building this as a Keil Kraft Champ in the early 1960s. Powered by a DC Bantam. I can still smell the fuel proofer. Followed that with a Phantom Mite. Happy days.

Keep up the good work! - not just in providing nostalgia for us oldies but in inspiring the next generation of aeromodellers.

Aviation is the only pursuit ik the world where the most basic and oldest of operation, like free flight and U-line, exist simultaneously with the most advanced.

Why dont you use the lasercutter to add the center markings on the wings? 😅

As James alluded, definitely use a more a more solid method of securing the elevator control horn. Most control horns have a back plate you can screw in to.

James the control horn should be fitted with the axis in line with the hinge not in the middle of the elevator as you have shown here, otherwise a lovely little classic build, these fly really and such fun to fly.
With the silly rules and regulations I can see control line making a bit of a comeback for no hassle flying.

I should mention that I had a great deal of fun making a Champ that I converted to electric power using a 2212 1400kV motor and a 2S 1000mAh pack. I used a cheap micro servo for the elevator and flew it around a pole on a single dyneema line with control via a cheap park-fly receiver. So I had the fun of re-visiting control-line flying without revisiting the dizziness.

To accommodate the higher weight I stretched the design slightly (600mm span and 110mm root cord for the wing).

When we get some decent weather I'll be out flying it again - from the comfort of my camping chair 🙂.

Off the topic, but what camera equipment and post production software do you use to make these videos?

This video is great, but that “music” in the background is awful. I have tinnitus from standing in front of a guitar amp for 20 years, and this fired off an cacophony of ringing in my ears.
