My impressions of two fuel injection conversion kits i used on a pair of '66 Mustangs. The FAST system, and the Holley Sniper kit. Lol, please excuse the crappiness, it was 5am and the coffee was still brewing.

Thanks Joe for your time in making this video for us, and perspective on both! I have not ran across many videos where comparisons to the FAST XFI system have been done. I am really into automotive electronics and electrical systems, so the wiring aspects never intimidate me as much as the actual tuning part. I will say this much, I started out with GM modded TPI EFI setups with a ton of hours in the wiring mods to make a sanitary install and it running properly. Comparing that to the work I invested in moving to the Fast XFI 2.0 system, the latter was a breeze requiring less simplification of the electrical circuitry and getting it integrated into the vehicle. What you compared in value to us is an EZ self learning level to a fully tunable EFI system. Both target two very different applications, and desired experience levels. What I will say about the FAST XFI, it IS a terrific system, but you have to do your homework on the wiring and tuning aspects. I could write a book on that part alone, as the software doesn't tell the installer everything we need to know, unlike the EZ level systems having that info already built in, so to speak. You cant leave out the fact that the FAST XFI software has the self learning capabilities of the simplified system, but even that has to be set up properly to learn under the correct engine running conditions. All that said, I am a big FAST XFI fan, and have had great success with their gear.

I can totally vouch for how lengthy and complex that a fully integrated and professional installation of a FAST sequential system is. I don't know if too many people really know what they're getting into. I am an auto repair mechanic and I would NOT do this install for a customer unless they agreed to like Joe said, 60 hrs. labor. It's a system for a tweaker which is what I am. I finally just bought a Microsoft Surface Go that just stays in the vehicle all the time so I can data log incidents and adjust the tune anytime and anywhere.

With a laptop and Holley software, you can custom tune the sniper in all of its maps. Steve Morris has a good video about this.

Thanks Joe for the real world truths! Very clean installs! I have installed many EFI systems and Air Conditioning units and People/Customers dont realize the time it takes to get them to look as great as those Mustangs!

Have the same FAST system in my 77 Bronco. It was on the stock 302 but it was worn out. Building a 331 now and can’t wait to see what I have when I put this all back together. Thanks for making the video. I felt it was easy to install the first round just but I knew it was going to come back out so I was not as concerned about really hiding every wire. I bought some gorilla loom and hide wires in them after I decided how I was going to run them.

I have the FAST XFI multiport system installed on a DART SHP 427 small block in a 1982 Corvette. There is a hell of a learning curve. Do not use the self tune feature. Once dialed it it's amazing. I am also using the MSD 6AL-2 programmable system.

I’m running the sniper on my 68 F100 and you can really tune it much better with the cab bus cable and laptop. The sniper display is handy for basic setup but not much more.

by 4:00 minutes I knew which one I should get, and the one I wanted. Great vid

Good job, on both cars! I think a more fair comparison would be the fast 2.0 throttle body version vs the sniper, but, Im sure many would appreciate this comparison even more, thank you

Thanks for the comparison and expert opinion. I just bought a Sniper system for my '76 Stingray and it looks like I picked the right system.

I put the EZ 2.0 system on my 68 Camaro with a .030 over ZZ502. Had the typical electrical issues with interference from the plug wires/coil stuff, and the failed MAP. Wiring it on a relatively done car was a drag, specifically when it came to running the ECU harness into the dash area. I contemplated drilling a large hole in the firewall near the trans hump but thought about it some. The car is an automatic trans car so i remembered the factory covers a large hole in the firewall with a plate on auto trans cars. The FAST grommet fit the hole like it was made for it. What ultimately fixed everything was replacing the dual plane intake with a single plane. Other than having the fuel pressure regulator mounted to the firewall near the heater box, the install is relatively undetectable to even the sharpest eyed Chevy guys. Since that time, over 2300 trouble-free enjoyable miles, with the driveability of a newer car. Bottom line the Fast system works for me, but i am above average! ;)

You do nice work. Good video. I enjoyed.

I installed the Sniper and it mostly self tuned itself. I adjusted the cold idle and everything else self tought over roughly 100 miles of driving so well that I didn't need to mess with it. The engine is pretty tame though.

Great, great video. I really like your impression on both systems. I have 2 65 mustangs which I want to explore on going with EFI. HOLLEY is now my choice. My problem is finding who can install the system. I live in California, who would you recommend for me to look for on doing the installation?

This is why just a few hours of Dyno time is totally worth it if you are setting up an aftermarket EFI.. Got a FAST Classic in my Merc.. with a Mustang 5.0... works better than expected.. gets 25-28mpg and stronger everywhere in the powerband. Can’t imagine it taking 60 hrs though... but I built it to drive, not show.. still did a clean install.

Nice Mustangs, nice video, and I have the same Magpul beanie lol. I appreciate the quick comparison, I'm planning on putting the Sniper on my '69 fastback in my driveway this spring.

Lol if i gave the impression that you CANT tune the Sniper system that was not my intention. Of course you can tune it, adjust the enrichments, etc. The FAST system is much easier to navigate in that regard, and can be more finely tweaked. But of course they're both tuneable, my apologies for any confusion.
